let me guess, if a stranger took the kids into foster care, the state would pay them, but since the cousin took them in, she doesn't get help? if the kids have significant disabilities, hopefully they can get some SSI. The adoptive moms income will count against them, but with so many kids, its more likely they will qualify.

Yes, most kinship foster parents don’t get any help with finances or supplies. Some counties in different states are trying to change this and make sure that family members or family friends who take in children related to them to foster are given help, but the laws/policies need to change to make sure all kinship foster parents get help.

I raised my brothers 3-children and I didn’t get any financial help to take care of them until I was taken my little ones to school one day and there was a child in his class that worked at the social services and we were talking about my little ones because she thought they were twins and I went on to tell her that one was my nephew and she asked me if I was getting help for them and I told her no so she told me to go back In apply for help and put Grantee on the application and just that word got them insurance which they didn’t have I didn’t get anything else because I worked two jobs but maybe you can try that too get the help you need to help take care of these babies God Bless you and good luck!

@@annieshazer5257 i would think the kids would always be eligible for medicaid if the parent didn't have insurance for them (prior to adoption, then it would depend on the parents income and access to private insurance)..with non kin foster care, the foster parent gets cash for food, clothes, transportation, toys, etc. I think my state is about $1000/month PLUS a clothing allowance. in many areas they don't give the cash payment to the kin foster carer.

Praise God for that baby diaper program. So all 5 kids are family members kids she is left raising? Sad. No, you can't get the Foster check if you are anyway related. But you can get Medicaid, WIC and foodstamps but the latter wants your complete income. Most families can't get the foodstamp because once you add the mom and dad or uncle / aunt they are over income. Another reason why many families are dropping their grandkids, nieces/ nephews at foster centers because they can't get paid. God blessings to this woman. She needs a Gofundme.

I think she's getting Ssi? She said some have a Developmental delay so they are eligible for SSI and Medicaid.

no mention of dad. sad he abandoned them if he's still alive. he should at least be paying child support but wisconsin doesnt enforce it

They could be incarcerated and have different dad's or they could be abusive. Or maybe not in the position to raise children.

The article didn't say what happened to the mom either. Perhaps dad is not alive either or perhaps he can't care for 5 children. Perhaps he's depressed. But judging does not help the children or the family, does it?
