In Korea, Fran is considered as Anna version of Iamyourfather(Lee player). He and 200won made all kind of gimmicks and stuff. He was the mod of Anna Board in Tekken Central; one of the oldest Tekken community in Korea. I'm glad to see this fantastic match up.

As Anna player I can say this character is all about pressure, aggression and unexpected patterns. Anna has the slowest launchers in the game and very short range of attack. If Anna doesn't pressure she has to deal with extra long legs of Katarina, Hwoarang and other mid-range shit. But SS3 is one of the few safe Anna moves, most of her movelist is punishable if you know what string she will do. Also her parry has the shortest window among all characters with generic parry just because she can counter Paul and King shoulder. But she has the best rage art in the game. Anna is good for best of 3 but not for long sessions, if Anna patterns is clear to her opponent she is good as dead, no safe moves, no safe combos. Fran has to use ass-kick more often, it is Anna fastest move from CJ even it is not safe.

Super Budgie i see, but, is it really that easy to read through anna in higher ranks? All i know (and it could be wrong) is that Anna’s game plan revolves around playing with the opponent’s brain by canceling moves into chaos judgement / dash stance so you can get them off guard?

Looks like even this old Korean Anna god has the same df123 issues I do, where for some reason that eludes both of us, letting the 3 rip always gets blocked, and CJM canceling the 3 is when opponent decides to press buttons randomly.

I mean of course you lab Eddie and Noctis (especially in lower ranks), and you can lab Geese too (at high levels) since you do see them often enough. Anna is not that Character, actually if he was a difficult character to face against Armour King would probably be the season 2 character to lab the most because of visibility

Best way to learn is to learn how to use the character. When I play against other players who use Lei (which isn’t common) I know how to defend against him because I know how to use him. Easier said than done tho tbh

Almost no one uses Anna and Zafina, they are both weak and underrated and need buffs so people can use them. However both of them have interesting gameplay and fun to watch.

Zafina was my main in T6 (she was poorly balanced in that game i still remember one of her lows was *-12 ON HIT* O.o) and TTT2 (they buff her a little bit but she was still weak) and i used to watch a lot of Fran matches to learn setups with Zafina. Also despite being low tier she was super fun to use because of the mind games with her stances and because her animations and crushing properties were Great.

Remember to try to SSL her d+3,4,1 string so you don’t get frame locked. You can step after blocking the 4 even if the d+3 connects.

"its impossible to learn all of the match-ups" well, Korean players pretty much get adapt to any match-up sooner or later, even with new characters, at least they adapt quick enough to put on a challenge at the very least, and its about reading the moves more than thinking of the match-ups if ya ask me. Like in this case, you don't know Anna that well, meaning ya gotta read the moves and the way your opponent plays, clearly Fran took advantage of your Lack of knowledge the moment he realized that you don't know Anna well enough, and he Kept on Pressuring you so you can't read Her moves fast enough to React to it. I'd say your problem was leaving your feet as an easy target, Fran kept on the lows way too much that you should've blocked or Low parried at least a few of em, but you kept on showing him how 'Scared' you were by trying to back up, only to Encourage him to pressure more and more on you and taking advantage of the pressure so dam well. overall, Great vid tbh, and please no one gets me wrong, TMM was Amazing and he's too good, heck if i ever play against him I'll be Squished like a bug, probably 0-20 rounds for TMM, its only that i know Anna good enough because somehow she was my Main since TTT1. And god so happy i am to have her Back and again in another Tekken, Thank god she's here.

@Kenny With all due respect, My Perspective is all about "Players" themselves than the Character, and as i said, in the case of not knowing the match-up, you have to come up with Quick plan or a way to counter, try to adapt to the "Many-Multiple" used Moves, at very similar timings, you should at least calm yourself a little bit and try to ACT. And yes ofc Backing off might be the safe thing to do, but at the same time, don't be just Defending/escaping, against Aggressive players, you're just inviting them to hurt you. And by all means your point is absolutely right, Knowledge is the strongest weapon, but what i tried to say is, don't focus too much or only on Defend, you'll have to push off the Pressure or its simply a matter of time till you're beaten, "the best way to defend is attack".

Anna is the opposite of nina. A lot of her moves track to her left, so you want to step her to your left. Nina you’ll almost always step right. Also her side step kicks that are crazy plus on block are extremely linear. Easily stoppable. Only problem is the wall setup makes it real hard to step. You’ll have to Interrupt with a jab or a fast homing move. Can be tough if she does anything else, so it’s basically up to you getting a read on her. “Is she going to step and do the plus frame kick or will she df+1 and pressure here?” She’s a tricky character for sure, very under rated. Her highs are almost all plus on block and launch, and she has devastating lows. Fortunately her mids are not super strong and quite linear.
