In my mind the best case scenario for people in S2 is gonna be like "Woah my character got a new move" the game isn't gonna fundamentally change, Yoshi will still be doing BS, even if Nina gets nerfed, if she maintains her character identity she'll still be extremely annoying to play against. I still like the game enough today, but I can't imagine how someone who hates the game will change their mind with S2.

Just because a character has a unique aspect to their kit, it doesn't mean it shouldn't exist. It's really underwhelming and can't be used for cheese, so there's no reason to hate it.

9:14 Similar situation with Clive Zantetsuken and launch Azucena’s moveset, the characters’ identities were overshadowed by the god-tier moves so that most people miss out on the truly unique aspects. I feel especially bad for Azucena because I think she’s got an interesting gameplan but it was soiled due to her wr 3+2 turning the character into a complete masher. Now no one plays her as much anymore.

Clive's prominence was a better version of yoshi's f1+2. Long range, unsteppable, wall splatting, heat engager that launches on hit. Now Yoshi's is better again since it still hits grounded for some reason.

Meanwhile Bryan still has QCF1+2 - Now arguably the best long range, safe, tracking heat engager with full combo on heat dash. The input helps bryan extend the range of the move, and it's incredibly fast.

His new QCB1, 3+4, F3 all play into this. QCF1+2 just makes no damn sense in that kit... At least Clive was meant to be a mid-range monster, so a move like F1+2 makes half sense.

with the Zan gauge i feel like they went too hard on the 'sacrifice damage now for a big hit later'. The Odin sword moves already do less damage why do they also give all grey health??? I feel like one or the other would be fine. Lets say PHX3,1+2 does a few points (like 2) less damage than now, but its all permanent or gives less grey health than PHX3,2. Then its interesting. This is the plus side of characters always being nerfed according to how pros play them. I regularly play against an Alisa who was already God tier at avoiding Prominence before the nerf due to her busted movement. As a result I never experienced the "insane tracking" of this move, as I got punished for it every time anyway. I'm not sad to see it nerfed at all 😂
