I find Tekken 4 to be most fascinating out of all Tekken games. Some day I'd like to see like a documentary about development of Tekken 4 from pre-production to alpha,beta and final product.
@WTFHAX935 жыл бұрын
Well, we have some of the pre-release material in form of a few screenshots and the announcer's voice clips from the arcade version of the game. We know for a fact that Steve Fox used to be called Dean Earwicker (the aforementioned pre-release screenshots show Steve fighting with his name being Dean on the HUD, that name was then used for one of the Tekken Force members in T4's version of Tekken Force Mode). Announcer voice clips exist of pretty much every character up until T4 + a few new ones, like Koukuma and Koupanda or Enjin; Alex being pronounced as Arex for some reason, Michelle Chang having two name calls for some reason, Jinpachi Mishima name call, Dr Abel name call. Unused names for some characters: Dean Earwicker, Leonard Gardner, Ryan Lewis, Sugar McGregor, Amy Nascimento, Fiona Gilberto, Benjamin. All those voice clips can be heard here: /watch?v=eYvM8JeeO_o (paste this after KZbin's URL)

To be honest, I don’t think there was a single bad ending in this game. Even Xiaoyu and Panda. In a game with such a serious harsh tone to it, the writers did well with these endings relative to the characters. Xiaoyu is a young Japanese school student so it’s only natural that she loves to dream about the future and Jin. The endings did well to reflect that and change the mood up a bit. Well done. Wish I could leave more than a like on this video, amazing stuff TMM. Let’s also not forget that HARADA was in the chat! The epic prologues in this game engross you in the story as well, which add to the endings like for Paul, Jin, Kazuya, and King. I remember for King: "Armor King was murdered. King is entering the tournament to get revenge on his killer." It's never stated who the killer is, but you connect the dots and then it's revealed in his ending that it's the new character, Marduk. That kind of storytelling makes you want to play the story with each character.

I will always use any excuse to say how godlike they made Jin is in this game. Everything, from his story, his moveset, his costume, his ending, all point to a singular concept of not running away from the devil inside you and instead learning to control it as it is an unremovable part of your being. I mean, just look his costume. It's equal parts black and white, cut right in the middle. His tattoo, which has a circular or oval form, is in his back. Because it's in the middle of the line, half of it is black and the other half white. That's yin and yang. The principle that true harmony can only be achieved by balancing the light and dark side of yourself. Or consider his ending. He was going to give in to the devil gene but flashes of his mother stopped him. Seeing Buddha, the Enlightened One, helped Jin to understand what he must do. He let go of his hate by sparing Heihachi, flying away while a singular white feather floated on to the ground, hinting that Jin is on his way to true enlightenment. This is why I'm so disappointed that in every iteration of Tekken after this, Jin is back to trying to get rid of the devil gene, going so far as to wage world war to do so, and not even succeeding. I feel like they took several steps back on his character development after 4. They even took away his costume.. 😞

32:34 I would say he’s learned from Jun to abstain from behavior like that. He’s also kinda sheltered on top of being disciplined, until Jun supposedly dies and he has to train under Heihachi. By that point he’s hankering for vengeance.

I think the problem is they got criticism over trying to be too realistic (eg changing Devil from possession into a genetic thing, replacing Mokujin with a clunky looking robot, not having a supernatural final boss etc) and decided they needed to throw out EVERYTHING that Tekken 4 established with Tekken 5.

Lei's ending in 4 really feels more like a Jackie Chan movie than 5 and 6 (although i liked them both). More stunts involved, the pacing, the music and overall the action comedy feel to it.

@@MaskedGuyCh I hope you do realize *Paul* back in the Tekken 1-3 era was *Kazuya's* rival. That alone should tell you he was no joke. He had funny moments, but not the joke itself.
@MaskedGuyCh5 жыл бұрын
@@violetlacksh2o It was a one-sided rivalry. Kazuya never saw him as a rival.
@gregorsamsa22715 жыл бұрын
I see many write this, which isn't true. He had a funny side, but he definitely wasn't as one-sided goof he's now. That's bullcrap, it's like you never payed attention to the lore, or just watched some endings from the older games. Paul before Tekken 1 drawed with Kazuya, and lost to him in a hard fight in Tekken 1. At Tekken 2 and 3 he remained undefeated because of bad luck, in third Tekken he even managed to beat Ogre. Yeah, funny stuff happened to him (like in Tekken 2). And although Kazuya never saw him as a rival, he saw him still as pesky, he never took him easy. Look at the Tekken 6 scenario campaign, when Kazuya said: "You're not what you used to be!" - that alone shows how much his character changed after Tekken 4, and that also even Kazuya had certain respect for him! This is no typical joke character we're talking about here. Having a funny side, and being a complete joke character are two different things.

I've noticed when I first watched the FMVs, the Characters look like as if their in-game Polygon Models were used. The FMVs in Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and Tekken 7 seem to have low composite picture quality. I played the one from the actual Tekken 4 Game Disc and those FMVs from the Disc look a hell of a lot better. Even in S-Video quality. 19:53- More like his family. 22:34- The legendary Quote!
