In this episode our crews documented the might and power of Southern California's premiere brick and stone Inter-modal transit center. The recording occurred in-between ride-a-longs of Metro Rapid Lines 704 and 733 during the spring and summer of 2021.
Patsaouras Transit Plaza at Gateway Center is right below MTA headquarters, adjacent to Union Station and provides convenient access to the Metro Red Line, Metrolink, Amtrak and many regional and long distance commuter bus lines.
These are scenes of that morning and afternoons.

I think it's time to rebuild the Los Angeles Metro Local and Express bus networks and get some lines going back Patsouras Intermodal Transit Plaza at Union Station.

Patsouras Plaza is the transit gateway to all SoCal, hence the name Gateway Center as it’s known during construction under the RTD and later MTA. The plaza needs to bring back long distance lines starting and terminating there.

This Transit Center is like the king of all transit centers on California. It's pretty sad that only 3 MTA Local Lines serve inside of the plaza: 30 (temporary), 33, and 40. It would've been better if the following MTA lines served inside of the plaza: 4 (peaks), 20 (select trips), 28, 30 (permanent), 33, 40, 60 (select trips), and 460.

Such a shame that many MTA lines no longer serve Patsaouras Transit Plaza. We used to ride Lines 434, 436 and 439 from Patsaouras to Santa Monica and Redondo Beach respectively in the 90s. This Inter-modal center is one of the best looking transit facility with its seamless accessibility to buses, subways and trains. We would have loved to see the Ramirez Bridge extension from the Freeway to the Plaza when it was under construction but the new platform along the HOV lane is good and safe.

Exlyosnap Was right about 256, i just saw the Bus Stops Signs and yeah Commerce Transit will be Taking line 256 from CSULA to Commerce as line 200 after 12/19/21 #line256lives

We are certain the riders will not be affected since no fares will be implemented. We wonder service times on that soon to be former MTA line.

@@TheMetropolitanNetwork When I first heard Commerce was planning to take over the southern portion of Line 256, I was actually surprised due to Commerce Transit would run outside of its territory due to the southern portion of Line 256 runs in the entire El Sol Transit territory. When Commerce takes over the southern Line 256. There will be pros and cons. Pros: - Increased frequency to 30 minutes all 7 days instead of 45-60 minutes. - Will be extended to Commerce Center. - Ride will be free. (Note that Commerce Transit was always fareless before COVID-19; even though, I was surprised when I first heard about Commerce was free, I thought the agency's fare was like 25-50 cents). - Hour of operation between Line 256 and Commerce Transit is the same so there will be no shorter headways. Cons: - Transfer between one another in CSULA. - Lost of Holiday service.

With police contracts soon to expire and safety officers will now be patrolling the rail lines, taking rail will be dangerous even in mid-day. Travel by bus all the way! SoCal needs long distance lines back.
