I appreciate the rereleases and those who grab them. I loved the Playmates Turtles throughout childhood and they hold lots of nostalgia but I'm passing now days when NECA is releasing the toys I had envisioned in childhood. I live vicariously through you Jay.

i'm so thankful for NECA and Super 7.. when I started having rosy memories of toys as a kid, and started looking back at them.. I was like oof.. those were kinda rough. I love the more advanced (and expensive) upgraded and fully realized figures

As a Kid I have Slam dunkin don since then. Didn't they also have like Slap shot leo too As well? Hockey. Wasn't there like one or 2 wave's. I know they did 2 assorments of Universal monster turtles. I think Playmates needs reissue those. But it depends too. On the molds if they are still there.

During childhood I was never much into the silly Ninja Turtles variants although tempted by several throughout the years especially the water sewer spittin' variants, the storage shells and all of the headdroppin'. My childhood was in the Netherlands where action figures like TMNT figures cost roughly $11 USD around the 90s (fl. 19.99) which was pricey for that time compared to approximately $4.88 per figure in the US! Due to that I mostly chose the unique characters instead. TMNT was my largest childhood toy collection with G.I.Joe, Real Ghostbusters and Masters of the Universe following. For TMNT I ended up with the original 1988 Series 1 Release, Movie Stars, the wacky action set and Sewer Samurai Leo, Headdroppin' Raph.

I bought just for the Dunkin Don as i had him as a kid! I played basketball because of that figure and was #23 because of Don. I didnt even know about Jordan at the time lol

I didn't even know they released these until i saw the video. Is this a Target exclusive? They look really good. I had the TD tossin Leo as a kid. Skateboarding Michealangelo and TD Tossin Leo were released previously in the Classic Collection in 2012-2013ish I beleive This package is cheaper than 1 Super 7 Ulitmate figure and will have better Quality Control then a NECA two pack so it has that going for it.

I found and bought one of these at a Target a week ago, opened the box and found the original Turtles inside, NOT the Sports All Stars figures. I'm so disappointed!

@@GeekDadLife That was my thought as well, but it was sealed. Also, all four Turtles are in there, so if someone did do that, they were at least "kind" enough to provide all four individual Turtles, as opposed to random figures. I'll probably return it and go the eBay route, unfortunately.

@@GeekDadLife I did some further investigating after your comment. I looked at the three pieces of tape on the sides of the box that keep it sealed. There are two pieces, one covering each of the originals, so someone had to have bought it, taken out the correct Turtles and replaced it with the Wal-Mart re-issues. How frustrating!

In the early 90s I HATED when they did sports turtles. 1 reason I STOPPED buying turtles back then.. I focused on my toy biz xmen instead which I still have majority of them sealed and some 80s Joes.

Ultimately why do we buy any of this stuff? Most likely answer, nostalgia. Sure you can put in phrases like hopeful thinking and I liked the sculpt or I have fond memories of a given character, but yeah it really just boils down to nostalgia
