you can. Use an XLR to 1/4" cable for 4 of the mics and plug the other 4 mics into the mic inputs

Does that work like a dongle for Pro tools LE(replacing a MBox 2) and can I use it in conjunction with Command 8.

Hello dubsak, thank you for watching & for your question/comment. If you use the ALT SOURCE input on the back of the 002 that input can be directed directly to the monitor output - as you see that labeled button on the front of your 002. That will pass the audio thru but the ***only*** problem with that setup is that ALT SOURCE input does NOT have an RIAA turntable preamp on it. You'd need to basically plug your record player into an RIAA preamp (stereo receiver etc) and then plug the output of that device into the ALT SOURCE input on the 002 interface. Give that a shot and we'll try to assist you in anyway we can. Thanks for Watching & We'll Stay Tuned for Your Next Update! Sincerely, The Musician Network (TMNtv)

Hi I was wondering what is the best way to combine an analog mixer with an audio interface for multitracking through a DAW. My mixer the Mackieprofx16 has an Insert slot not an Out slot and can I use that for patching the instrument signal to the interface to record my guitar in the DAW? and why is it that the playback of what I recorded sound static and of a less inferior quality than what Iput in. I am using balanced cables and I dont know what Im doing wrong.I appreciate all of your helpthx.

Hi, I have 2 questions if you possibly can answer, 1- I have some device called a "pocket operator PO -12" it's a low cost handheld drum machine, even though it's low cost it's has some powerful drum hits, I plugged it into the digi 002 line input 3 but in order to get a good high recording signal into the computer I have to raise the gain knob, what happens then is the noise level is too high, I can get the drum sounds recorded but there's too high of a background noise fur the drum hit recordings to be useful.(even if I edit the audio region in pro tools so there's no before or after noise the actual drum hit contains the noise. any advice? question 2- let's say I have an external drum machine that I want to sync to my computer, this drum machine can be synced with a "click" track sent to it's sync input, How do I get the sync click from digi 002 into the drum machine, what's the process? thanks

+NYCP NY Hello NYCP NY, thank you for watching & for your comment. Your 1st question is easily answerable but your 2nd is not that "easy", unfortunately. To answer your 1st question, please plug your drum machine into the Digi002's 5/6 or 7/8 inputs and make sure the switch on the back of the unit is set to -10 not +4. This switch sets the standard input/gain level on the Digi002 and your drum machine is already set to output -10 "line level" signals (as are all drum machines & synthesizers). Then, try your recording again but make sure the output volume on your drum machine is set to the LOUDEST setting (not all the way but maybe 9 out of 10 on it's output volume knob) and that should allow you to record the highest possible output from the drum machine into Pro Tools with the LEAST amount of noise. Let us know how this goes once you try this, again. Now, onto your 2nd question which, as stated above, is unfortunately a much more difficult issue to solve. The drum machine you have, if it has a "sync" output, pre-dates (i.e. is older than) the MIDI specification which, as you will see on your Digi002 - it has a MIDI IN, Out & Thru on its' back panel. These jacks/MIDI is what manufacturers came up with in the mid-to-late 80's to SOLVE the problem you are having in trying to sync your drum machine to Pro Tools or any other piece of music equipment, in general. The only way you are going to be able to "sync" your older drum machine to your Digi002's MIDI connections is to purchase a "sync convertor" that turns your drum machine's sync or "pulse" output into MIDI information. These sync converters are no longer made but you should be able to find some for sale, used, on eBay. One of the companies that used to make one is called JLCooper. We just checked eBay for you to get you an example of what "sync interface" would provide this sync-to-MIDI functionality and found this auction which would work great for your situation: JL COOPER PPS-100 sync unit rack mount J.L. Cooper MIDI SMPTE PPS (Item #262126484547) What we would recommend you do is download a PDF of the JLCooper PPS-100's owners manual and read the instructions on how to sync your drum machine to the interface as this will allow you to understand better what you need to do. Please let us know if you have any further questions and Good Luck! Lastly, please make sure to Subscribe to our Channel if you haven't already as we'd very much appreciate you becoming an official Subscriber! Stay Tuned & Thanks Again for Watching! Just wondering, for some basic recording, other then ProTools, what's a nice software on windows operating system?? Thanks for the vid, helped a lot.

meals24u Hello meals24u, Thanks for Watching & Very Glad the Pro Tools/Digi002 video helped you! And, in terms of a good Windows-based recording program.....there are many options but a bundled version of Steinberg's Cubase (owned & distributed by Yamaha) would be an excellent choice. You can pickup a Yamaha Audiogram 6 (audio interface w/ built-in small desktop mixer) for around $130 bucks that bundles Cubase AI recording software with it. Hope this helps you and, again, thanks for watching! Sincerely, The Musician Network (TMNtv)

ok. I have a Digi 002 Rack for years now, but never used it so far. Completely new to this whole home studio realm. Anyway bought the rack second hand long time ago, came with the PT LE disc, but lost it while moving for some reason.. 😞 anyway, I guess my question is can I buy protools le again somewhere, as a digital copy, or is it for free if I have the rack, or how can I go about getting pt le back and onto my windows based PC? Cuz I think if I have the 002 Rack, Pro Tools LE would be best for it, eh? Thanks again so much for the help..

@@jamespelen5754 as long as you have firewire on a laptop, you can use this anywhere. I've had mine for 15 years and it is still awesome. And I'm of the belief of rarely turning off my electronics and computers. This is a work-horse. I have never used it for the stage, but I have taken it with me to other locations. It will work with any system's audio so I use it for my DAW (Studio One v4) and my computer's output. It automatically switches when I minimize my DAW.
