I really wanted this Thrust figure because I was hoping for a new set of coneheads. Unfortunately he doesn’t scale well with my other decepticons. Otherwise he is a great figure with lots of features.

Thanks for a great comparison, I have two of the maketoys coneheads (thrust and ramjet) and this version of thrust is going to replace the maketoys version. I hate on the maketoys that the waist is so loose. Honestly I’d like to see Deformation Space make the coneheads, they did such a great job with the original 3 seekers.

Ya know for me personally, I always have a personal preference when it comes to thrust. As in the g1 show is face-plate was more of a lighter shade of silver, while Dirge and Ramjet were dark gun metal grey. So if that small aspect is accurate, I bet the rest of the figure is just as close to the show as possible

I originally wanted the MakeToys cone heads but MTRM-15 Endgame has become unobtanium. I cannot find it anywhere. So I settled on buying the MPU-01. Hopefully they finish the set.

He's alright. I've sold mine as soon as I got this MPU-01 figure. I hated the waist and hands of Maketoys. I only got him because I really like Thrust.

I have both my maketoys came and was so tight it broke in a few spots so I have to keep it in robot mode and glue parts so I went in on the ultra and have to say I love this mode .

I think I'll stick with MP-11 until Takara, maybe, makes a new mold.

The color pallet used on the MPU mirrors the colors on the MP-11 version of Thrust exactly. For better or worse. 😉 It's hard to get all 3 MakeToys cone heads at this point. Dirge was for sale everywhere for years when he was all they made. As soon as they released Thrust and Ramjet all the Dirge sold out quickly and now you can't find him for sale anywhere where Ramjet and Thrust are easy to find. They need to reissue Dirge aka (Endgame). Folks generally want all 3. The MakeToys Thrust and Ramjet are now going to sit around unsold without a Dirge to buy anywhere to complete the trio. I wonder if MPU is going to hurry up on their own Ramjet and Dirge or are they going to make the same mistake MakeToys has made?

My biggest problem with the Make toys is the solidity of it is absolutely atrocious, and I had to do a lot of modding to make it solid, and even then its feet/stability is also bad. And another thing that may seem small is I hate that they got face color wrong. Yes in some frames and in thr comics Thrust has a grey face, but in kost of the shots as well ss the kost iconic in 86, his face is white. But i got it anyway cause I needed a Thrust for my collection. But with the MPU, it was tempting to get for the solidity as well as the better headsculpt sne proportions, but I just hate that it lacks a lot of the sculpt differences it should have like thr extra chest vents and the sculpted in skirting vents. That as well as thr color mismatch with the Black and Grey really throws me off. It's still really well done for a KO, but not quite what I want for a Thrust. At this rate, I think I'll just wait and pray that Takara makes an official MP Thrust and that it doesn't suck

Excellent comparison, and I agree that MP Ultra is the overall the better figure. Thus said I am still keeping my Maketoys conehead, despite all their problems for 2 reasons: one, I like the look of it better (sculpt, color, etc), and two, they are bigger so more on par with DS seekers. If you choice of seekers is the Takara MP getting MP Ultra is a no brainer, but if you have DS Seekers it would look like a dwarf compared to them

I put both side. By side and next to my DS Seekers. Maketoys is the better choice overall. It looks better to me and the size looks better with DS. I had the KO for about a day and sold it.

Interesting. Maketoys (and even Takara's MP11 mold) was still gunning for realism but with show accurate colors - though the MT Coneheads had toy color faces with black instead of white/gray, whereas the peeps behind the MPU had a show accurate body and face color with an overall toy color scheme. Then again, Takara dropped the pass on MP52 Starscream, that runs a gray that's entirely too dark and thus neither show nor toy accurate. Not surprised that the new Thrust won despite the stunning Ls it was taking.

I sold my Maketoys as soon as I got this new figure. I like Maketoys but, those waist and hands kills me. Can't even luck him up without him flopping around. Than you've got the hands, fingers, that can easily fall off if you're not careful. Would had been great had they made the waist snap into place.

I wish the MPU version was as big as the Deformation Seeker :( Throws off the collection. Mr. TMR if it's not too much trouble could we throw Zeta Toys EX-14 Pluto Thrust in this race?
