Celibacy is a religious reason and honestly not everybody should follow it if they don't want to. She was raped multiple times in the past and she could have got it from that. As well as getting ir for example from non hygenic procedures to get a tatoo or any kind of nom desinfected niddle. And A LOT of people (I'm even confident are most) get some disease from their own partner. So being married does not help, actually. Everyone should still get tested at least once a year, even in 15 year long relationships. Telling teenagers to not have sex won't keep them from having it. They will just have it, but they won't tell their parents and will be more ashamed to say they have anything to their parents. Plus, there are people that are simply born with diseases.

When you weigh the pros and cons, it's not worth it. My niece worked in a pharmacy in Atlanta and she said the most beautiful, educated, well-dressed women would come in and they would be getting HIV medications because their husbands or long-term partners gave it to them so you are right about that. I think the main thing is that people are in denial they're in denial about their partners cheating when they've clearly had signs if you've been with somebody for years you know what type of person you dealing with. I just tested positive for syphilis which can lead to multi organ damage if left untreated. I had no symptoms and just randomly decided to get tested after a year of not doing so. I was an Infectious Disease Investigator in Atl. She is being as open and brave as she can be. We couldn't even tell spouses that their spouse was HIV positive. We just let them know their name came up on a contact investigation and that's it. She was in denial like many people. To me seem like she didnt want to know. Thats why she didn't get tested for HIV. Some ppl know they engage in risky behavior and will opt out of HIV testing. Some feel that as long as symptoms are minimum or less noticeable they are afraid. If she actually ever got tested then why not ask for HIV testing. I meam seriously we've all seen the HIV flyers in the clinic and health department. And in fact they do ask specifically if you want to be testing for HIV and syphilis. And if they give or even if you ask for the results on paper they're detailed about what you've been tested for.

Every experience I've had being tested I'm 99% sure they've asked each time if I want the blood test too. What's the point in getting tested if you're not checking for everything?! Years ago I asked for a STD test while getting my annual woman's exam. And to my surprise, they don't test you for everything. I remember asking my doctor before the test and found out that HIV and Herpes test was not automatic unless you asked. Correction. She didn't lose vision in her eye from the medications. She lost her vision from the CMV virus which is one of the viruses you get when your t-cells drop very low. CMV usually attacks the retinas of your eyes and the vision loss is permanent. It's also highly contageous. That was also the reason she lost control of her bowels.
