Man how far we've fallen since Take Care and IYRTITL, going back to those projects feels like such a breath of fresh air compared to everything he's shat out since 2016. But hey, at least it brought us some very entertaining Anthony reviews that actually contain some of my favourite lines of his, such as "The flow is so basic, it pretty much just sounds like Drake talking", "Which is so hilariously egotistical, it makes Kanye West seem well adjusted", "It's like Drake saw all these depraved, starving, struggling similes and decided to give them all a home on this album" and who can forget "I kinda wanna hook a car battery up to my nuts just to get some kind of mental stimulation", among many others

Drake is actually a very talented artist imo, his issue is just that he doesn’t put his energy into making objectively good music, he just focuses on what he thinks his fans will like. And because of how large his fanbase is and the fact that many will enjoy just about everything he releases regardless of the amount of effort he put in, Drake interprets this as he can basically make the most basic shit and it will sell. And so the cycle repeats.

I used to still be on the same page as him with IYRTITL but I do think the fact that it was written by someone else (someone who sounded WAY BETTER on those tracks than drake himself) brings it down. Also after time, I really hate Take Care. Shit was ass but still prefer it a million times over everything he’s made post 2015. NWTS grew on me SLIGHTLY but not enough for me to like it. I honestly thought, based on how popular Drake’s music is, that his music was good but it wasn’t for me. I dread his music, but I honestly thought it was me. I dislike his personality, his demeanor, his attitude, the little I’ve seen in videos or whatever, that I thought I was biased too. But apparently, he’s puts out somewhat objectively bad music constantly, so it’s not just me, I’m glad. I think Drake has some sort of a Jake/Logan Paul effect on people, they want what he has so they validate his output positively. I think it’s mostly immature and stupid, and there is immature and stupid but enjoyable music out there so it’s not just that, but his is just dreadful. Anyway, that’s my rant. Sorry.
