It may be, but it's not great. Could have been so much better by changing the track listing and using more of the fabulous organ playing that Rick did.
@tskmaster38373 жыл бұрын
Hell, that's even worse than a cash grab. "Hey, remember those bits of rubbish that didn't made the cut for the Division Bell's pointless instrumentals? Let's honor Rick with that." Nick: "Well, we could just play the songs Rick wanted Floyd to play live again." Dave "Comfortably Numb" Gilmour glares, silencing yet another Floyd upstart. Years later, Nick "Hey, I can do it myself."

The fact that The Wall loops is so trippy, it could be saying that Pink falls back into his isolation and addiction or it represents other people building their own walls, it’s a really dark album and that’s why it’s amazing. To top it off, the transition from “Outside the Wall” to “In the Flesh” is genius because; 1. There’s a hidden piece of Roger talking and 2. At the start of “In the Flesh”, whatever the instrument is it becomes super quiet, tricking first time listeners to turn it up and then their eardrums are destroyed by the guitar. It’s amazing.
@doesitmatter16673 жыл бұрын
One of the instruments in the beginning of In The Flesh? is a clarinet, though there’s another that I believe is some sort of free-reed instrument like an accordion or melodica

I was 15 when The Wall was released, living in a boys’ home with other rejects. We were huge fans of DSOTM, WYWH and Animals. None of those albums prepared is for The Wall. We were spellbound. Each and every one of us felt the record in a very personal way. We had each built our walls and we understood all of it on an emotional level. At the same time, it was so liberating. A battle cry. One of my favorite memories is of the night a friend and I got caught driving in a snow storm and had to go really slow. We turned the radio off and sang The Wall from start to finish, improvising the instrumental parts by making weird noises. We knew every guitar solo. The thing is in our DNA. And it has aged well! Thank you for this list.

Overall I like Dark Side of the Moon, Meddle, Piper at the Gates of Dawn and Wish You Were Here the best in that order, and think there is a lot of great music on these albums and it has the best balance between the interweaving key boards, drum rolls and guitar with a surprising use of bluesy, jazz and even some funky elements with fairy tale psychedelic folk and penetrating philosophic treatise feel especially in Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were and Meddle. During these releases, the lyrics and feel of the music had more of a balance between light and dark moods and the lyrics were more original, poetic and representative of the ebb and flow of life with the heart beats, and the duality between eliciting a sense of meditative runner's high contrasted with a sense of escaping from great travails or merely running to catch up with moments that can never be retrieved as in the stunning TIme, which is why I think Dark Side of the Moon is overall their best album in seamless integration of innovation and peerless production of sound. I also enjoy Remember a Day,, See Emily Play, See Saw, Julia Dream, Paint Box and Summer 68 which I think would have been great as an extended more prog like piece since it has a mysterious and dour flower power feel with elements of love lost mixing psychedelia with the dramatic realism of the horns. It is an invocation of a frozen moment long ago in the perpetual sea of passing time with cool trippy harmonies. After Wish You Were Here, they began to descend into more morose music making with the Wall and Animals as well. I will admit it is powerfully pessimistic; since I lot of music is impressive but the downer feel makes it less appealing to me and it doesn't seem as innovative. From the Wall, I still think Comfortably Numb and Young Lust are fantastic songs that don't dig too deep a ditch of depression in my mind.

The album consists of them using household objects as instruments like pots and pans and rubber bands for strings, and wine glasses. It's hard to find the complete list of songs but alot of them are ideas that ended up on wish you were here. The song Wine Glasses ended up being Shine on you crazy diamond. I will never forget the first time I heard that album. My mom bought the cd for the car and put it in after shopping. I had not really “taken in” pink floyd before. But it was my first real introduction aside from hearing the basics on the radio. I was hooked ever since

I've been obsessing over Pink Floyd recently, having listened to them for fifty years, and started listening to your video with some trepidation, ready to end it if it didn't resonate. I gotta say a big well done for a really wonderful video. Well done. Wouldn't disagree with a word.

Like your breakdown of Floyd very much. Makes me happy knowing younger guys listen and appreciate. I remember buying DSOTM an eighteen year old and my old man being disturbed because I loved them them,still do. Regards

@LegoGuy87 In all honesty, most of my negative feelings about Radiohead come from Kid A. I'll probably piss off a lot of people when I say this, but I can not stand that album and everything about it sonically. To me, Kid A is 50 minutes of tedious, banal, and pretentious electronica that never actually goes anywhere. Measured as a rock album, it is absolute crap. If you like that kind of stuff, all the power to you, but it just isn't for me. If you weren't too infuriated by that rant, could you please recommend me the album of theirs that has the fewest things in common with Kid A?

You can’t convince me there is a better Pink Floyd song better than Time. It is literally a poem that explains what life is. Just look at the lyrics

A super refreshing take on the career of Pink Floyd. It is both candid and very articulate. I don't agree with everything but it doesn't matter. Great job!

I feel like ''what shall we do now'' gets way too little love, because it was cut off the Wall album for time. It's my favorite part of the movie, with just how fucking sick and trippy the visuals are in it.

It's your favorite. There's no 'best' when it comes to subjective, opinion-based stuff. I love Us and Them, Comfortably Numb, and Shine On You Crazy Diamond, but that's only my opinion. I'm sure we're all collectively glad Floyd existed as a band, though.

@@rikk319 it is painfully obvious that is an opinion. When somebody makes a passionate statement, just let them make it, no need to tell them it is only their opinion. Quite sure they are aware.
