That said if Spot ever came home from a successful hunt with a mouse, rat, or bird, Worf would probably get it a little kitty Klingon warrior costume and take it down to the cargo bays to hunt at night.

What's funny is in the post-Nemesis novels, Worf adopted Spot after Data's death. The Enterprise got infested with tribbles and Spot single-handedly ended the infestation. Worf began calling her the "little warrior."

I got to thinking, it would have been fun to see Worf's son Alexander in this episode. I oftentimes think that Worf took Spot back to their quarters and asked Alexander to look after Spot and if he does a good job of it, he gets one of Spot's kittens. So Alexander takes very good care of Spot and earns his own kitten.

Every time that I watch this, I keep thinking that Worf's son Alexander sees Spot and wants to look after her, and asks his father for one of Spot's kittens when they are born. I think the kid would love kittens and Worf would only let him have a kitten if Alexander could take care of Spot, by feeding him, and talking to him like Data does. In my theory, Alexander does look after Spot and gets a kitten, which he names after his mother.

Michael Dorn doesn't receive enough credit. The man has more Klingon cred than anyone. Before him, Klingons were just murderous raiders living only to fight and create chaos but Worf becoming a high ranking Star Fleet officer while maintaining connection to his Klingon heritage was always a major plot of the Star Trek universe. Michael's work in Picard season 3 was nothing short of brilliant. "Beheadings are on Wednesdays."

Continuity errors among the various writers. Spot originally appeared as not a tabby but a Sornali he's then without mention changed into the tabby. The various encylopedias have referred to a transporter malfunction changing his appearance and sex into the female we know. It could also be said that Data had no idea that Spot was a girl and simply never checked. Being an android he must lack curiosity in that area. It could also be said Spot died off screen and was replaced with a new Spot.

Spot's changing sex from episode to episode is one of the those stupid continuity things that I found really grating. He's obviously male for most of his time on the show, then in season 7 suddenly with no explanation, Geordi starts refering to the cat as female and Data doesn't correct him and even starts refering to the cat as she himself. Then in the 'everyone turns into prehistoric animals' episode suddenly Spot is pregnant. It's not believable that with 24th century vet care Data made a mistake.

Maybe Spot's intersex in some way, which complicated the determination? Afterall, sex is just a bunch of different characteristics bundled together in a bimodal distribution. They may have simply thought to check her chromosomes and make a determination off that, but they aren't the whole story since the sex chromosomes just trigger other genetic codes in other chromosomes, that trigger other genetic codes in yet more chromosomes, that trigger chemical washes, that actually lead to phenotypical expression, and any unexpected variables at any point can change the whole story, or just part of it... This stuff is a LOT more complicated than people give it credit. But then again, in order for her to give birth she'd need to have those specific reproductive parts, and I have zero explanation for how they could have missed that for so long, other than the obvious IRL explanation that the writers changed their mind cuz they wanted to do an episodes where she has kittens...
