This is one of the oldest routes of MSTD (Madras State Transport Department) until 1968/9. Express buses were plying between Kanyakumari and Rameswaram via Tiruchendur, Tuticorin. I have traveled in that route multiple times. The buses were clean and passengers were treated with dignity.

This route of Rameshwaram to Kanyakumari. I have taken on this bus a kid. From Tiruchendur when we take the beach route, there used to be very small road and all you see is manal on all sides. Now you have some in between stops. There used to be nothing. The bus used to stop at uvari, Anju grammam, and bus stopped for food at Valliyur

This ECR route was quite scenic though the road seemed to be a narrow 2 lane road.....I was expecting a road similar to the ECR from Chennai to Pondy. Everytime I see Tiruchendur or the temple in any video it transports me to a different plane......I share a very special spiritual bond with Tiruchendur Murugan......I carried the kavadi on Soorasamharam day as a 4yr old.....there was a sea of people there even in early 80s as against an ocean of people nowadays.

That KSRTC bus is HARIPAD TO aatrangarai pallivasal and in my knowledge there is no bus from tiruchendur to Kerala But from Tuticorin there are 3 services 1 TNSTC to Alappuzha and 2 SETC to Ernakulam
