Thank you Thank you Thank you. I have an old HQ Sixteen that I converted to a sit down machine. I haven't used my machine for years because I haven't been able to get nice stitches. I followed along with the video, checked my tensions, needle size, and thread, Oh my gosh. I am quilting. This is such a huge blessing. I was ready to throw this machine away and go buy an APQS. My grandson is going to be so thrilled to get his quilt of monsters for his 5th birthday.

Don't take this the wrong way but i think i love you.I have been working on a backpacking tarp made from a king size polyester cotton blend bed sheet.I moved to a heavy polyester thread for sewing the hem and have had lots of tension problems. /bunching /binding and loose loose stitch on the bottom. So now i will try larger needle and change bobbin tension. Thanks so much.YES I AM NEW AT SEWING.

This is an excellent video, the best I've ever seen. It covers tension, what thread to use with what needle. How to determine if your tension is correct, and a whole lot more,

Before adjusting top tension on domestic machines raise the pressor foot to open tension discs, make the adjustment then lower the pressor foot to stitch and check again. When pressor foot is lowered the discs are closed and not available to open/close easily to allow the changes.

Thank you Vicki for this great tutorial on threads, needles and especially tension! You have a lovely way of teaching and this was so informative, really learned an enormous amount. Have just placed an order for my very own Avanté so looking forward to joining the HQ family. All the very best from South Africa. 👍🏻

Watching this saved my bacon. I was really having a difficult time with this -- watched it a few times and then it 'clicked'.

Thank you so much for this educational video--I have just purchased my HQ Sweet Sixteen and learning how to make these adjustments and the needle size to thread size ratio has been extremely helpful! This is a well lit studio and the Vicki is excellent at explaining each detail of the process. What I did not know about tension is pretty shocking--but now I know!!

Thank you for this video - I have just taken delivery of my Sweet Sixteen, and this has been very useful for me to get my tension correct. Its still not perfect - tiny dots of the top stitch showing through on the bottom but I will just keep persevering until its right!

I bought my HQ16 used when the local quilt shop went out of business and I have been frustrated with the stiching. It has a stitch regulator on it but when up graded to the new system I could not longer get the stitch regulator to work.

This was wonderful! Helped me figure out tension a lot better. My only comment would be to not refer to the needle being turned to 5:30 or 6:30. I think you meant to say 5 & 7. You can’t show a hand gesture that shows the half hour mark. I knew what you meant but was said weird. Again, thank you
