Thank you for this podcast.. My girl and I recently decided to try open and I'd be a wreck without being able to listen to others validate my feelings and emotions.. Just nice to know that what Im feeling is normal and not permanent.

Its dope to see this type of talk without having to feel like your degrading women. Or the institution of marriage or religion. Aubrey's honesty about the struggle of an open relationship for me takes the stigma away that guys arent able to function in that type of relationship without being cucks or a pushover. Yet Ive discussed this with most male friends and mostly all of them are not in support of a healthy open relationship but almost all are lying to their partners about infidelities both sexual and random time being spent with others. So I say open relationships that are thoughtfully discussed with partner and realizing that not all open relationships require crazy sex to be happening all the time can be beneficial to our society. Certainly the current paradigm of marriage and monogamy are based on old antiquated ideas from a society that thought along the lines of Kellogg. Thanks guys for keeping it playa mane.

I see valid points on both sides, but in a monogamous relationship you choose knowing you are attracted to other people as well, to be with just one person on that sort of physical intimate level. We all have urges as humans for lots of stuff, but I find it ethically virtuous to stay loyal to the one person you love deeply. to say that we're humans and want to fuck new people, and that woman also want that doesn't make it the right thing to do. to think of people who are monogamous as not truely honest with eachother I think is a bad rationalization.

Human beings have feelings for a reason, you are meant to act on them to survive, be happy, healthy and have good mental health. Monogamy is a made up load of rubbish! Very bad for the health.

Aubrey, you always make me think. Lots of things are rolling back and forth and my head on this. I think many of the points made sense. Here is something that came to my mind regarding women and "allowing" this. I've had two kids. I made it out of the process without stretch marks. But I didnt come out unmarked. I've thought of how hard it would me to show my body to another man if something happened to my husband. Women go through a lot of changes after childbirth. Our bodies dont often look exactly like they did. There is a lot of unspoken shame in our minds and society sends all kinds of signals that the pre baby body is the ideal. I just felt like highlighting an aspect that women deal with that men dont. Men have body issues no doubt. But they dont have to repair themselves physically and emotionally after childbirth. At least from my own personal experience... that's a big chore. That may be another factor in men seeming more free to pursue what they want.

I’ve been with women who have had children before it’s not really an issue. Usually it’s just two people seeking pleasure. We all have insecurities, self acceptance being one of them.

What if capital R religion (and other suppressive forces) have been tools to tease out the specific tendencies in us (e.g. hierarchy, efficiency) that bring about the building of material foundations (like the agricultural and industrial revolutions and invention of computers) from which we could launch into a whole new way of Being on Earth?

Hey Aubrey, I am curious about how you mitigate the visceral effect when your partner tells you about her sexual experiences. I would love to give my wife that freedom to be happy and have experiences where I do not hold her back, but struggle with that sense that you have felt yourself.

This is why Islam allows marrying upto 4 wives (so long as the condition of justice between them is fulfilled)... It's sad how these guys worship their desires (and in process sell their mothers, aunts, sisters and wives) rather than their Creator who knows what's best for them
