My personal theory, and I know it does have a slight tinfoil to it, is that it is so "open", that they can catch the subscribers/followers. It's a bit like when the Australian police managed to catch a guy running a darknet board for abuse material. Instead of shutting it down, they kept running it, and according to CBCNews, they ran it for 11 months, which was longer than it was run by the guy they caught. It led to the arrest of 200 people, spanning 300+ cases. There's more examples like this, so I wouldn't be surprised if it is a tactic being used now and then.
