@@tiffanyharpandsong Yes, I grew up in Ireland and, terrible to say got, my appreciation of Irish music from our prog rock group Horslips rather than traditional musicians! Anyhow, we get there in the end. Not sure if you listened to the version on their album Drive the Cold Winter Away (a Christmas album which is actually pretty traditional) or the version from the Book of Invasions which is more prog rock? But thanks for your beautiful rendition.

Wow, that's almost exactly what I was looking for! I had a crush for this song since I heard the version by Francois Lazarevitch with Fiona McGown, and was thinking about making an easy arrangement for my harp. Your version is lovely! Maybe too advanced for my harp level for the moment, but I definitely will came back to it one day, I checked your video lesson, that's great! I just discover your work. Subscribed! 🙂

I'm glad you like it! It's such a gem of a song isn't it? If you are looking for a simple instrumental version, I do have one on my Patreon page (and a lesson to go with it) that you might like. Happy harping!

@@tiffanyharpandsong Thank you! I'm not familiar with Patreon, but I will take a look! Also I came across your easier tune tutors (without singing) and I definitely have to try, I'm so used to learn with sheet music (because I had a classical musical education) that learning in this traditional 'by ear' way seems more difficult to me, but must be really nice! I love Celtic music and your playing style is beautiful ❤️
@clairelecuyer3 жыл бұрын
And also, I really want to learn to play while I'm singing, that was the meaning of my first comment, maybe it was not clear. Because I'm more advanced in singing than in harping, and doing both together seems SO difficult for the moment! That's why I love your tune tutor with singing where you slow it down so that we can catch it up! Are there other singing-harping video lessons on your Patreon? Thanks!

So beautiful. Your voice is beautiful. And of course the harp. What I’m wondering is, how heavy is that harp and how far do you have to go to move it? Looks like you have help though because someone threw a snowball at you! I love the chords sung at the end. 😉

Beautiful music and visuals. You were so brave to bring your beautiful harp out to the cold and snow. So much for temperature and humidity control. ❄️💦🤣. Do you think that the fluorocarbon strings help at all?
@tiffanyharpandsong3 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure! It seemed like it was going out of tune but when I brought it back in, it was fine?? Go figure haha
@sthom4bad3 жыл бұрын
Impressive! I love your coat too. I have to play in cold conditions soon and am worried about the harp. Should I loosen the strings, let it chill, and then tune up again? And then there's the cold hands problem...none of this seems to be bothering you!
@tiffanyharpandsong3 жыл бұрын
I didn't do anything to my strings beforehand, but I swear this harp is magic. It seemed to be going out of tune in the bass then when I brought it back inside it was basically fine, haha. It's mostly extreme temperature fluctuation that will make it go out of tune, and once it gets used to the new temps it may hold better...kinda depends on the harp I think. Maybe you can bring it out a few minutes before you have to play to give it time to adjust and then keep re-tuning it until you need to play. Cold hands are definitely an issue, but in this vid didn't matter too much since I wasn't using the audio from the video. You could get some fingerless gloves and hand warmers perhaps! (Also, putting your hands to the back of your neck can help!)
@sthom4bad3 жыл бұрын
@@tiffanyharpandsong Thank you for the insights! So to make this video, did you "lip sync" and "play sync" yourself, and how on earth do you match up the sound and visuals so flawlessly? This is something I've always wondered about with other musical groups who make aesthetically wonderful videos such as Anuna choir. No matter how hard I try, mouthing or playing along with something always looks "off".
@tiffanyharpandsong3 жыл бұрын
@@sthom4bad if I were smart, I would have recorded the whole thing ahead of time. But for this one I was pretty much writing it as I went. So I recorded *most* of the harp part, put that together, listened to it in an ear bud while playing which my husband so kindly started and stopped, and sang some of the words over the harp I was listening to as we filmed. Then I recorded the voice after the fact. I didn't worry about filming/synching up every single part though, since I knew I would be showing some other scenery in the final video.
