Smells like blue woodsmoke, coffee and insect repellent. Sounds like moving water, banter and throaty laughter. Sometimes, like yourself, I've been worried by the waning enthusiasm to go fishing. However at the end of the day we come back, yet again, to experience what you so gracefully gave us here. Thanks for that Rolf, it is beautiful and absolutely necesary.

I love the way you focus the noisey brain fruitydivergance down to such beautifully creative stream of thought and vision - it's an inspiration to a man that shares such a brain but is yet to learn how to drive it. Thank you.

Thanks, feels like I have no idea how to drive it though.

These aren't videos...they're beautiful short films Rolf! Yer a heck of a filmmaker ma man. We in the USA just lost a highly-cherished fly fishing writer Mr. John Gierach. I live but a few miles from where he called home in Lyons, Colorado. His rich story-telling about fishing buddies reminds me of your rich cinematography work. Just a beautiful capture of another adventure...I reeeeally needed this today, thank you!

Yes, the freedom of being out with friends whom you can be completely candid with - be yourself with - with no fears of offense - no fear of being "cancelled" for having a socially inappropriate thought or opinion - all too rare in today's sanitized world - yet it only makes the fishing and the conversation that much sweeter.

By a far mile the best and most psychologically insightful movies on the internet. I think by now you are building what amounts to an Anthropological study of the very distinct subspecies of homo sapiens that is The Scandinavian Fly Fisherman. Including the endangered sub-mutation that is the culturally sophisticated romantic performer. Very interesting indeed.

Utterly beautiful (as always). As a father of two (three and five years old) and another one on the way I can really identify with you feeling the urge for more free time of your own. However, weirdly enough maybe, I can feel the truth behind Kim's words. Already now I look at pictures of my oldest when he was two years old and miss those days. Once again I am very grateful Rolf.

Great video, per usual. I appreciate and feel known by the tension at the end of the film regarding fishing and parenting. I actually heard something similar in “not too steady flow of mayflies”. I love fly fishing for trout in the mountains of south eastern USA, but it takes so much time away from being with my wife and children. I hope that I never get to a point in my relationship with my children that “i hardly speak” to any one of them. The unknown really helps me to remember and realize that the most important thing in my life right now is not the rods, reels, and fish but is my family. Thanks for another extraordinary fly fishing piece, thoroughly enjoyed it and it’s so cool that you are friends with the tallest man on earth. I bought tickets years ago to see one of his shows here in south eastern USA, Asheville to be exact. My mom had our kids and all. We went up to our rental room and all, but because of Covid precautions they wouldn’t let Christian into the country. Our loss! Maybe one day! Tight lines and even tighter bonds with your wife and child(ren), Rolf!

That's such a great, mythical area to someone who lives in the middle of America. I'd love to visit someday, but for now, I'm just glad you make these videos so someone from across the world can experience what they think is a legendary landscape. Some people may think of the plains of Oklahoma or Missouri in the same way, but think their home is completely mundane-- but it makes everywhere else that isn't home that much sweeter. Edit after the fact: How do you stand being covered in mosquitos like that? I can't imagine not smacking myself every two seconds if my entire body was swarmed!

Rolf can I ask what frame rate you usually film in? And also, your footage is sometimes out of focus. Is this intentional or just happy accidents that you like the look of?

In this film it’s 100fps and 50fps. The focus is often intentional, not always
