I do love this, the original, tune to this great modern hymn. I think the alternative tune done by Lou Fellingham sounds like reluctant trudgery of dragging a heavy weight up a steep hill by comparison. And as for her change to And Can It Be...no! Just no!! As we say in England, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. As ever, you’ve done this hymn proud with lush rich harmony that’s a true delight to listen to. Keep up your great ministry! 👍🏼😁

Wait...what? I was LOVING this piece until 1:14 in, when the lyrics written are not the lyrics that were sung. Fanny Cosby's hymn is glorious because of the Gospel truth it proclaims: (Stanza 2) "O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood, To every believer the promise of God; The vilest offender who truly believes, That moment from Jesus a pardon receives." I was so sad to hear this beautiful choir sing a different gospel, which really is no Gospel: "The vilest offenders who truly obey, That moment may enter the heavenly way." Jesus is the only One who truly obeys...it is why He can give us His pardon. "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." Ephesians 2:8-10 Forgiven and given new life, our obedience surely follows faith. Even that is a gift from God. And it certainly isn't what allows us to "enter the heavenly way." Not sure why the change was made, but it changes the whole meaning of the hymn, and sadly, takes the glory away from God, and gives it to us. @@lisawallover3875 Thanks, I'm all for obedience. Jesus said if you love me you will keep my commandments, but by changing the lyric from believes to obey it seems they're making a statement about salvation that is not Biblical and very concerning. That's why I asked for clarification, if they were simply singing the song as it was written or if they went out of their way to change that lyric.

Nice singing but why change the words? Hymns are about the words..sing whatever tune you like but the words are what delivers the message. Jesus Christ is the one who pardons men and women from sin...its not just because we believe. Its because his blood covers our sin and makes us fit for the presence of a Holy God and this is what we believe and this is what we should sing!
