Anything that you want to include needs to be in the video before you upload it. The editor on KZbin only does simple trims and so on.

For me, the title/thumbnail is my biggest challenge. Your examples are great but when you're not a ''famous'' face, it's even more challenging to attract. Lately I've used famous celebrities in my videos and use their faces. But the title is also the qualifiers and on one hand you want to attract your niche, but also not be too narrow or too specific to exclude people. What a puzzle, a fascinating one!😁

You don’t have to have a famous face. You just need to focus the potential viewer on the thing that matters to them if your face is in it or not. What matters is that you grab their attention with the things that matter them so they’ll look at your title.

Being a travel vlogger, it is most of the time a serendipitous day of filming. Yes, I understand the importance of having a thumb and title before filming, but that is difficult to do seeing how most of my thumbs are from the video itself. For an example, we are going to ride the moto to "Sacred" mountain. I have no idea what is up there other than what Google has. No idea of the kinds of buildings, statues, etc.. Most of what I film, I find in the act of being there. Like I said, serendipitous. How could someone get around that problem, or is there a different strategy to be used? In those sorts of cases, I would go into a shoot mindful that you will need to come up with a compelling thumbnail and title - be prepared to take some dedicated photos along the way as possible options. If you go into it with those things in mind, you can identify opportunities along the way.

With our types of videos, some advice is tailored for the most common use cases - so that's why you hear a lot about topic research, planning, scripting, etc. Works well for educational/how to type channels. Vlogging and experiential type channels, the story happens, gets documented and then crafted into a video that tells a story.

Up Next, or Suggested might be getting pushed to test a specific audience with that content. KZbin are always trying to find the right viewers for our videos (more accurately, they are trying to find the right videos for each particular viewer). The way they do this is to test impressions on various surfaces on KZbin, whether that's Browse, Suggested , Search, etc. They are continually gathering data to find out who is the ideal viewer(s) for a video.

Nick, is KZbin aware of a glitch with the KZbin music? I received an email from KZbin to check my videos between the dates of May 16-18 to check an issue with my description box and the only thing that I could find in my description box was that I used some free KZbin music. I only used one of the music on my video, in the other one that’s in the description box when you click on it, it lead you to a link to another channel that has over 300,000 views. I have checked other videos. I have an upcoming video that has already been worked on and has of the music KZbin music that is free links to someone’s channel and not the actual music video link, my husband’s channel also has one on there so this sounds like a glitch and problem that KZbin has someone needs to check into it because this is beyond my control, but that is the only thing that I seen in my video during that day now maybe they are aware of it and I’m not sure if they’re gonna take the video down so far it still up and running, but it sounds like a glitch on their part and it’s out of my control but someone at KZbin needs to investigate this and check into it because someone somehow is linking into their music. I added in my video description box. Correction added and explained what I felt was going on with that issue . Thanks for all the information you get out to us.

I'm not familiar with that one. Did they say it was a music issue? Or was it to check that your description was still correct? Now if you do use tracks from the Creator Music (Beta) or the classic KZbin Audio Library, it will sometimes link them in or below your description, that's normal behavior.

But, what puzzles me is where my videos, which are clean, for the most part, get a mixed response but someone that can post videos like “B****** Love Me” or “B**** Slap” or everyone’s favorite, “I Glued My B**** To…” and their channels blow up? I don’t know if I’m putting too much work into my videos or my title or my thumbnails suck. I watched your video twice and still a bit confused on the ''specific target'' because on one hand you say to attract a broader audience (qualifiers), but also be very specific for your niche. In my content about communication and public speaking, should I stick to ''public speaking'' topics (confidence, charisma, tips,) , or, go even more specific, such as TEDx speaking, presentations in meetings, ... I've been trying all of these actually.

All of the above. You need to make the content that adds value to your viewers. But, be intentional when it comes to where you’re getting views from. For example, home pages require wider interest in a topic within your niche in order to pull people in and keep the video performing well in recommendations. Search is great for providing solutions to very specific topics.

Categories are not used for much these days unless you're a music artist, a gamer or in the academic education space. For something like that, technical, educational, you could lean on How To & Style or Education, or even Science & Technology. Pick the one that resonates with you the best. Note that KZbin has their own internal categorization system, so which one you pick does not matter.

For the thumbnail, visualise what you want it to look like - that will actually help you frame the photo for the thumbnail in a way that will hopefully help it pop more. Also, have a rough title, but if the shoot takes a different direction, be ready to pivot that.
