Amazing video, Nick! Adding the playlist to the end of the video can indeed be a powerful move to keep viewers engaged. One additional tip from my experience is to ensure your playlist is sorted in a logical order. It’s crucial not to stack 1000 knowledge-building videos on top of each other in a way that could overwhelm or confuse. Make sure the sequence flows well and topics don’t get mixed up, also remove outdated content, enhancing the learning experience for your audience. Great advice as always!

One advanced tip is to leverage KZbin's API for data analysis on your channel's performance, which can help tailor content strategy more effectively than just basic analytics. Im constantly looking at channels from my comments to see the things people are having issues with. It’s really common for people to overlook a lot of the things I mentioned in this video. Sometimes it’s not just things overlooked, it’s things people don’t start thinking about until later in their journey. So I try to share to speed up that part of the process. So, I’m glad it’s resonating and applying directly to you and what you’re doing with your channel!

Great video (as usual 😊). So I never make the thumbnail and title first, but I might give that a try. I’m an artist so my thumbnail shows the finished product. I don’t really ‘solve problems’ but do give some advice throughout the video. It’s mostly just me painting and I explain what I’m doing. Still growing an audience. Once I get questions from viewers I can be a bit more specific about certain painting techniques but, it wouldn’t hurt using the KZbin search option to see what people are looking for. As I’m just a baby channel I don’t want to get lost with bigger channels who’ve already covered that topic. Anyway, slow and steady wins the race…have a great day!!

Nick been following you for a while now. So can’t say I’m new anymore. But still learning. My bane and worst challenge is still packaging nearly 4 years later it still haunts me. And also watch time. I have more than enough subs for partnership but I don’t have watch time. I found how to get people to join but they just aren’t watching long enough. So my subs goes up. My community grows but I still am hamstrung on the partnership area due to nothing I do breaking my curse of low watch time and bad packaging. I’ve managed to grow my overall channel view to over 200k a year or around that area. So I’m attracting interest but audience just will not give me the win I’m looking for. My core base loves the content. They watch fully. They always tell me how much they love my improvements. But the new viewers are where the problem is. So I’m hoping to implement some tactics you mentioned here to fix these weak points!

Great advice Nick I believe, but I'm just grinding because I'm at the stage of getting the right format that will pop for me. Helping DIYers One Video At A Time is all I can do! Thanks Nick for EVERYTHING you do! The struggle is real, but as long I can remember why I'm doing it to share and teach oh and have fun somewhere in the mix. I just uploaded my second storytelling type video making myself even more vulnerable it feels like, but I'm going for it like it or not! I believe I have value to millions of DIYers just need to put my spin on it. Thanks again and all of that advice in the beginning of the video about using the tricks and hacks even I know after only 1 year on KZbin it just doesn't work. It kind of worked on Shorts, but I want to build that community around long form content so that's my mission now! Nick you keep telling me to hang in there and I will because I trust you and your advice is ALWAYS VERY SOLID!

Great tips. Starting with the thumbnail first and using the first opening lines to deliver then over deliver on the promise it makes to the viewers has definitely helped. Everything is good here, except using Opus for KZbin shorts, as shorts are bad for your channel if you are growing returning subscribers and aiming for monetization. Shorts do not have even nearly the same reliability for getting unique viewers to become return viewers that longform content still has.

Shorts are fine if they fit your content strategy, and are great for discoverability.

That is seeming to be a common thing. I do 2 "general" videos for book recommendations for 30 or more books in one vid & 10-12 books in the 2nd. And both are consistently on Monday & Friday. Then I do specific books during the week. I probably need better thumbnails or catchy titles. I have yet to reach 200 subs in over a year of doing this.
@RealHomeRecording8 ай бұрын
Taking a brief look through your video number one I saw you use the word murder a lot in the title. KZbin does not like that word. Second, your thumbnails have issues with text size. This is just from a brief look, 😊 there may also be production quality content issues as well.

@NickNimmin8 ай бұрын
To be transparent, I’m not putting in as much effort. It’s pretty easy to see if you look at the channel, I don’t upload as much as I used to, don’t stream as much, etc. However, even with lower views due to how I monetized I’m making more than ever. But for the content, I’m just focused on life stuff at the moment. For example, I’m currently in Tokyo running around. I was on a hard grind for about 8 years and then chilled a bit over the last two. I’ll be ramping things up again soon. Also, with my type of content subs don’t matter a lot because the audience is transient since most people who start channels either quit or they get a good enough understanding to not need the content and then only check in from time to time for news or if they start to have troubles with their channels. But like I mentioned, I’ll be ramping things back up soon. Most likely focusing more on search based content around tools, more AI stuff and occasional KZbin tips since I have multiple videos for most topics around growth. Hopefully that helps.

Love your advice issue is when it comes to niching down some of my topics - I do videos are specifically about a historic people group - though there are items discussed that could be of general interest to family historians - how do I target to address topic but also show it is not specific enough example a recent video - The Untold Story of the Filles du Roi: Find these forgotten mothers in your family tree - how do I make that of broader interest in title?
@NickNimmin8 ай бұрын
Off the top of my head, possibly removing the part about finding it in your family tree and making it more about the untold story. Then, work in the family tree info as part of the story maybe? Just brainstorming but would that widen the audience up for it a little? Also, keep in mind that targeting larger groups of people within the niche also starts at the video idea stage. If it’s done in reverse then it creates a bigger challenge because we have to “make” it work instead of it just being a more general topic from the start.

@NickNimmin8 ай бұрын
No. Each video stands on its own merits. What you’re going through is normal and is part of the learning curve/process. Keep doing everything to the best of your current abilities while trying to learn more. Since you’re working on your CTR focus on clarity, learn about color theory, learn about framing (photo/video) and some basic design. That is for your thumbs. Also learn about copywriting for your titles. Also remember your thumbs/titles work together to win the click and that your topic is a major factor when it comes to people clicking.

I would liken this to reviewing a product. It isn't copyright infringement to review a product or to show a product and give your opinion about a product. It would be an issue if you started making knock-off cards and selling them - there would be some copyright/trademark issues there. That being said, I am not a lawyer - if you still have doubts, talk to one.
