For the tragics, and the believers. Melbourne battle their clubs history, and their own mental demons, to win their first premiership in 57 long years. The average rolling pixel count in this video doubles every 2 minutes.

After all the pain and suffering, its hard to relay to someone what we are feeling. Unreliable most of the time and even when we were good, there was always a team (or 2) better, so this is such an amazing feeling to be the best team after 22 rounds and then go on with it against very good opposition. Agree totally Bill. We weren’t always hopeless. We were a good side in the late 80’s , early 90’s and played in a grand final. Played some great footy when Neil Balme coached them in the mid 90’s, 1994 season in particular. The ten years under Neale Daniher was really enjoyable. We were never the best team in the comp, this was the era of interstate domination, especially the Brisbane Lions. They were still a good team playing plenty of finals including the 2000 grand final. You have nailed it in your assessment that this year is the first time we were actually the best team in it all year. Winning the minor premiership showed this. The final series saw a step up I would not even dare to have hoped for. They were magnificent. Hopefully they can rest up re commit and produce a follow up worthy of what they now know they can do.

Between 2006 and 2017, they lost six dozen games by 12 goals or more. Dean Bailey is sacked and dies of cancer. Paul Roos arrives and things start to get better.
