You can see how emotional she was when she got on stage and people were applauding her. Deep down, she knew she wasn’t gonna get the Oscar that night.

She was hoping to win her 3rd Oscars. You should watch Feud: Bette and Joan

Me. I didn't know she was a presenter that year. I wonder why she was in backstage than sitting in the audience during Best Actress presentation.
@TheDRMISTERYАй бұрын
@@dobazajr That moment presented here is actually depicted on "Feud" - as Joan Crawford and David Lean are walking backstage, you can hear Bette Davis (as voiced by Susan Sarandon) presenting the award to "those three difficult Italian names". Apparently she was backstage because... she was just presenting.

Yes! This is the one you have to put on here. The full show from 1963 that frank Sinatra hosted. I said it in most of the oscar videos I watched. It would be really great to see Frank Sinatra sing luck be a lady at the oscars

Sinatra looks great here; this Oscar appearance coincided with the filming of The Manchurian Candidate for John Frankenheimer and Sinatra was also at the peak of his vocal abilities [ arguably his absolute zenith was during the 57 to 60 period ]. Bette Davis also looks reasonably well; she was about to make Whatever Happened to Baby Jane with Robert Aldrich a year or two later.
@Katsimpourdas10 жыл бұрын
Actually, "Baby Jane" happened that very year (1962).

No -- What ever Happened to Baby Jane? she was up for Best Actress! She made Hush.. Hush Sweet Charlotte two years later also with Robert Aldrich who directed both.
@selma193010 жыл бұрын
No this was 63 and Manchurian was released in '62 and the same for baby J as Davis was a nominee but Crawford accepted for Bancroft and strutted around like she won that night. MOMMIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think Sinatra could very well have been nominated for his work on "The Manchurian Candidate," both as an actor and producer, but the competition was overwhelming in '62. Best Actor alone had Burt Lancaster ("Birdman of Alcatraz"), Jack Lemmon ("Days of Wine and Roses"), Marcello Mastroianni ("Divorce Italian Style"), Peter O'Toole ("Lawrence of Arabia") and winner Gregory Peck ("To Kill a Mockingbird"). "The Manchurian Candidate" wound up with nominations for Angela Lansbury (support) and Film Editing. In other years, I think it would have had more love.

Horton Foote was a great American writer but I would have given it to Robert Bolt for the magnificent Lawrence of Arabia. The original screenplay nominees were VERY weak that year.

If you think Germi and Bergman are weak, you hate cinema.

Not a Bette fan ...don't believe she is that impressive ...prefer Barbara Stanwyck
@renan.csmaia2 жыл бұрын
I think she was very impressive from the mid 1930s to early 1950s but after that she basically played herself (that larger than life persona).
@renan.csmaia2 жыл бұрын
Today I prefer the style of Joan Crawford and Barbara Stanwyck.
