I'm a 74 year old Scotsman and this song has brought back so many memories of all my dear, dear friends who sadly have now passed and are no longer here, the six gorgeous young ladies sang this song so beautifully, and their harmonies were absolutely out of this world, I'm so happy, yet so very, very sad at the same time 😢💔🙏🏴

@douglashalliday8235 Thankyou for your post Douglas, it was very kind of you, I have lived In Montrose now for the past 44 years, but I am originally from a little village in the Scottish Borders named Earlston, near Melrose, Galashiels, Kelso etc. and your message brought me some comfort as I noticed your surname was Halliday, the same surname of two brothers Jim & Bob who were two of my dearest friends, but unfortunately Bob passed away a few years ago, even so, he will always be with me In spirit, and at my age, having lost my beloved mum & dad, and my two older brothers, and now being on my own, that is a great comfort to me, as I feel that I am truly blessed to have lived through the years when this World seemed such a better place, unlike now, where quite frankly, society has become rotten to the core, and my heart goes out to the youngsters of today, because I dread to think what lies ahead, anyway Douglas, I apologise for my rant, but thankyou once again for your post, and I wish you well 💜🙏

All the memories come back with these songs. Better times, no worries, someone else was paying the bills. Each April straight from 1959 thru 1966, I enjoyed watching the Boston Celtics destroy the competition and win the NBA championship each year. I lived outside Philly but couldn't stomach the then Warrior's, who became the 76ers. Chamberlain could have all the scoring titles he wanted, I'll take Russell and his 11 Championships. The Jones boys, Havlichek, Heinson, Satch Sanders, Don Nelson, Frank Ramsey, Bob Cousey, Jungle Jim Lusctoff and coach Arnold Red Aurbach. RIP Red. I miss you lighting up those cigars when the Celts were assured of victory in the fourth quarter.

I remember this song from when it was first released. Our 8th grade class chose it to honor one of our teachers. The whole class sang it at a school event and I accompanied them on guitar. It was my first public guitar performance having switched from organ. Later continued on to bass, drums and sax in local rock bands. But this was the start.

Beautiful harmony! You don't see that very much any more. I just listened on the You Tube to the Cordettes (Mister Sandman") and the Mamas and Papas. Whatever happened to such harmony. Today's music, sadly, is mostly drowned out by loud music and fireworks and screaming disquised as singing.
