Keep the faith brother! I feel the same way, I want to be moved out of MA yesterday lol but we have 3 girls getting ready to go back to school at the end of the month, sports starting back up, etc. The winter will give us time to do all the necessary inside project like painting, touching up drywall and making small repairs and replacements. Then in the Mid/Late spring we can get the house deep cleaned, staged and listed on the market for sale once the summer hits and kids are out of school. This will give us time to get ourselves up there and looking for a place right away to get in as soon as possible. Everyday try to tackle one small task that puts you closer to your dream of buying that property in Maine!

Sounds like you have a good plan. What I found was not to wait on cleaning out closets. There is tons of stuff packed away in them. Most that I don’t need. Good luck.

@@Backyard_Chickens Absolutely. If I haven’t used something in 6 months or more that wouldn’t serve a purpose on the future homestead I’m throwing it away or donating it. No room for clutter when moving.

Moving is life changing , never easy. After a move you breathe and begin a new journey. Always count the cost. A roof over your head , heat (in winter) ,food and water are needed to survive. Everything beyond that is a luxury. Have a plan and move towards it. Doors will always open for you wherever you go , that's the fun part. Some people never get a chance to begin a new journey because of too many circumstances . I love traveling on Maines back country roads , stopping at yard sales and meeting new people. Everybody has a story if you listen , a friend is made . Priceless. I have lived in a storage room, camper, pick up truck for a couple weeks and now I have a home. I never regretted a move and never looked back. Who knows what tomorrow may bring. Many are the plans in a mans heart, God determines his steps. Allow God to lead and trust Him. Its all good. love your videos, keep posting.

My wife I moved from Maryland to Maine 4 years ago. We sold our house in Md and rented a beach house from October til April (winter rates) in southern Maine while looking for a house in Downeast Maine about 4 hours from our rental. Good luck

Always seems like the things we want to do most in life take the most effort, contemplation, and time. Of course, they are also the most worthwhile in the long run, as they bring us the most joy and peace after all the work is done on attaining them. I hope you can get things figured out so you can move forward toward your dream and find your happy place in life! It can be done and I am sure you will make it happen! You just have to make a list of the things you must have and keep scratching off the places that don't have them. Might cut the lists short most times, but at least you won't be looking at places that don't have them. But yes, it can be hard when you don't live in the state you are looking to buy in. Realtors like to deal with people they can show new properties to on short notice, before they get bought up, but I'm sure you will find someone who doesn't mind a distant approach. Maybe someone can do a virtual tour with you on some of the properties they have in mind, so you can see if it is worth coming down and seeing in person? Of course, that might be asking too much, I'm not sure if they would be up for that? I'm so sorry your girl is doing so much worse right now, but I'm very glad you got that extra time with her! You are very right, it's a different situation between raising meat birds, raising egg birds, and raising pet birds that just happen to give you an abundance of eggs to enjoy. It is much harder to say goodbye to a pet that you have named, raised, and become close to. I hope you are able to do what you need to do to put her out of her suffering, even though it will not be easy. Just because we know how to do something like that, doesn't ever mean it will be easy to do. Whatever comes, God bless and guide you!

If you want to move to Maine it’s not going to be easy. It wasn’t for me. One of the issues is that people up here don’t want it to change from a little sleepy little town system to a big one Locals own thousands of acres and don’t want them developed because we know what comes with it. Many folks live through subsistence on the land and water. We spent every penny we ever had on our 2acre homestead. We live in a camper and have done so for two years as we make the rest of the money to make repairs on a derelict house. Boondocking sucks. I guess I’m saying that getting your property is the most difficult part of the process. But also understanding the locals here is also important. If you aren’t liked here it becomes even harder. Getting a job is also difficult because they locals know you aren’t from the area cause everyone seems to know everyone. When you get here find a job that works for the community and be humble. If yer a good person to the community it gets noticed here. Great place to live and homestead but you gotta get some local support. They can help you to find a property by filming it for you so you can make an offer more quickly. Cash is king. If you are doing a home loan that’s a lot harder. Good luck brother and hope this helps
