Great video! I can't speak for everyone, and I may be far off but in my lifetime I've found that people who were treated poorly in the process of learning whatever job they're skilled at often crap on the people who are beneath them. It's like because they had to endure it, they feel obligated to treat others the way they were treated. I get it, I worked the restaurant business for years as management, but it didn't start that way, I was a dish pig. The cooks treated the dishwashers terribly and as the dishwashers graduated to prep cooks, buffet guys, and eventually to cooks they treated the new dishwashers like pond scum. Never understood that. But I grew up as a bad kid too and eventually did over a decade in big kids time out. I took every program, and did my personal best to foster others towards success as I made goals towards it myself. It's the joint so you know there were lots of haters, but I just pressed on. I taught the classes that were taught to me my last 3 years. Fast forward, when I get out I'm making 9 bucks an hour, which was $3.50 less per hour than I made 13 years earlier. Out of desperation a cat from the joint offered me a job and I moved where I'm at now so I could learn the tree trade and could sell for him because he trusted me. I learned the trade, and he's headed back in. I'm on my own now because I had to feed my family I'm not the greatest either, but if I can't do something I know who can, and I pay attention! I started out with borrowed saws, a hand blower, no climbing gear or insurance. But... I did my best, I made mistakes, I listened to others who corrected me, even the haters, but especially those who genuinely cared. I'm no better than anyone else, and I respect anyone who will put their life on the line for their family (every day), legally, who does what it takes to be successful, who works at getting better and providing a quality product for a complete stranger. You do you my friend! Keep that head up, forget those haters, better yet pray for them. They're actually the leaders of the industry trapped by insecurity. Been there done that, trying to change. Remember you ain't doing nothing right if you don't have haters. Peace!

My manager would also make me do degrading work in front of women who were digging me/or even friends who visited me. I respect you because you kept going, not me I quit that same day I moved into labor, same thing in a deferent way. They didn’t want to teach me the trade secrets because “I WAS GONNA TAKE THEIR JOB” Far from it my friend... But oh well. It is what it is. That’s why I made this channel too! To spread the knowledge. I want people who want to learn to come up as well🤷🏽‍♂️ Thank you for all your advice brother! As you know, I take all advice/criticism to heart & learn from it

@@mr.benitezhimself crazy, I've been doing this for 7 years now and have been licensed for four years also. Next year the plan is to bump it up a notch, hire a couple more full time guys and reel it in a bit myself. Almost 50 and those trees can be stubborn sometimes. You said it, that landscaping is some for real hard work. You can do five hours landscaping and make half the money you can in an 2 hours doing tree work. Keep up the great work. Get yours!

I started out mowing lawns around the neighborhood when I was 12, I saved up to buy decent equipment at the time. When I was 15 I bought my first set of used climbing spikes for $20 from some guy who was trimming palms around the neighborhood. A few months later I got a harness and flip line. After that it was game on for me! The advice and knowledge you share with us is very precious and should be taken seriously. Thank you for all you have done Louis!

I remember taking my fathers brand new equipment and use it to mow my neighbor overgrown Bermudagrass in his front yard for $50.00 As a teen that was so much $ to me! I was very ignorant to tree climbing, but my brother opened my eyes! I invested in a tree harness and never looked back Thank you so much brother I never saw you as a rookie climber. What's up Benz 1st things 1st we learn everyday bro know matter how much we think we know. It's about being humble. As far as the negative people it's jealously an there scared for there jobs or losing a tree to someone else. In this short time that I've been doing this biz guys have approached me an even pulled up to me at red lights asking me stupid questions about why are you trimming palms your a white guy. I just laughed an said I'm doing good God is good. Other tree trimmers don't want to see another trimmer cause they feel if they're not doing it there losing biz.

Hey bro greetings from Las Vegas🌴 Bro you spent a grip on that kit. You could of gotten more comfortable saddles for that price. Regardless, are you talking about the orange flipeline? You simply wrap it up around the tree/palm from one d ring to the other. Try and get advice from any experience tree climber or better yet, a certified arborist, in Texas to help you get the basics down
