This man became my life long mentor 15+ years ago. His Easy Strength book allowed me to break the Ultraweight American record, and years later come in 2nd in the world masters highland games which was a new sport for me. He most likely saved my life as I went from my local Wendys' customer of the year (true story!!) to getting back into shape and ditching the old football mentality of leaving it all in the gym. I am now 58 years old and have finally learned how to eat properly (Thank you ESFFL) as his quotes, quips and sayings are embedded in my inner voice. Thank you Mr. John - you have made an impact on my life, as well as countless others.

Thank you for this video that was obviously meant just for me! I finished the 10 000 swing challenge with a 24 k bell and moved on to ABF, since my press is my weakest link. My plan for the coming year is to move between ABF and Easy Strength, while continuing my climbing hobby, I think following the lighter days of ABF and easy strength with a climbing session would work well. My goal is to get to 32 kg presses before next year ends, but we'll see!

Hello Dan, It's a pleasure to live in an era where we've the privilege to reach out to legends like you, mad respect for the knowledge and experience sir. I recently discovered your channel, and I'm loving it. I want your help in starting the journey, I'm 24 and have '0' experience in strength training, I used to to 50 pushups and squats, but as you say, with complete range of motion. I recently got a 10 kg kettlebell, and started with Suitcase carries for 2 km in the woods, I'm really sore after the workout, i keep the bell away from the leg, almost 6 inches away, and ensure strict posture, in between I also do some overhead presses, and swings (5x10) and my form is not that great, could you please guide, from where should I start, what to follow, and my goal is to be healthy and strong till I die. Thanks Sir!

Hi Coach, thanks for all the content and great tips and guidance you give us. I laugh when you tell the comment about a guy who looks like Tarzan but plays like Jane to describe a bigger guy who can’t perform. Coming from a bodybuilding and powerlifting background I also see the opposite a lot in the kettlebell and tactical training space. A guy who looks like Gilligan from the old TV show that performs well. How do I train to not be scrawny and also perform well?

Well, those old Strength and Health magazines preached this monthly: do the powerlifts, the O lifts, and fill in the gaps with some bodybuilding. Occasionally, just power or O or BB. It's about getting the reps in.

I really like the 2 3 5 10 rep scheme you mentioned. I finished the ABF and started doing weight vest pushups similar to how I was doing the OHP. The only difference right now is that I keep the reps at a total of 60 for the workout and change the weight to give me a hard, medium, and light day. I pair them with pullups since I have the vest on and alternate with another day ehere I focus on OHP and front squats.

Are you able to progress all the exercises?
@farstrider79
@farstrider79 16 күн бұрын
@ryanrogers8211 Yes, as long as I don't try to progress too quickly and I never train to failure. The effort levels go in waves that allow for recovery time. I structured it loosely on the ABF, which is fantastic. I'm just doing high rep pushups on one day instead of OHP and I'm changing the weight instead of the volume.

Dan looks better than ever man. I don’t know if he’s moisturizing or doing green tea scrubs….

I’m doing my best. I have taken some good advice for my skin doctor. I have a little issue with skin cancer and he’s been wonderful with some simple little ideas that do include moisturizing. And it’s so simple.

I've always thought that was the barbell/dumbbell world. I like the fact KBs don't...originally...give one a lot of choices.

Whereabouts can I find written info on the Kettlebell Easy Strength program? I have the book(s) but I can't recall seeing a KB version in there (maybe I'm stunned!) Thanks!

Over on my site we have it in the workout generator, but there’s just so many options and variations, but I’m not sure I put it in the books. But I swear I did.

Early on in the video I was sitting in my car wanting to “ooh ooh!” Shoot my hand up because I figured I had the answer. My first thought was, progress through or alternate between doing 3x3. Then 4+3+3, 5+3+2, 5+5, and yes, 10x1. I assume once you’ve accomplished 10 you can start incorporating the next bell.
@DanJohnStrengthCoach
@DanJohnStrengthCoach 19 күн бұрын
That is a perfectly good approach. I discuss this idea, a little, in my new book. Get the reps up and the loads go with it.

Dan, This is a long shot, but do you know of any KB coaches that work with the disabled in northern Utah or anywhere in Utah? I have some residual coordination issues from my last TBI that are preventing me from doing a jerk. I would love to start trying the IKO long cycle competitions, but they demand a jerk and not a push press. Like I said, I know it is a long shot. The VA looks at ataxia as a permeant residual and will not help in the matter.

There are some good people up North in Utah. It might be better to hit me up on Facebook and we can see if we can go from there. The best guy died last year (long covid...) but I just can't remember the names of the others (sorry).

Coach, do you think going a bit heavier on double overhand beltless deadlifts are appropriate for easy strength, since the grind is basically on the grip and the load is still substantially less than a "real" deadlift?
@DanJohnStrengthCoach
@DanJohnStrengthCoach 19 күн бұрын
That's an interesting idea. The grip is the new "answer to all questions," but we did these, called clean deadlifts, back in the day, and, with a good hinge, it's a great exercise.
