I have been consistent and followed your advice working out with kb as I had no experience with weight lifting. I have lost 25kg so far, hope to lose 25 more in a year or two without losing too much muscle mass. If you see this comment, Mark, you have been one big inspiration for me through all this and I thank you for your clear and useful videos. Greetings from France 😊

I started using older videos where Mark shows simple drills for overweight/deconditionned people, it helped me get stronger of course but also way more confident. I kept adding more demanding exercices as I progressed, moved from 4kg kb to 12kg kb in a year. I stopped added sugar alltogether (it was a bit difficult in the beginning but it is worth it) and most processed food, eat in a caloric deficit and work out three times a week (two sessions with kettlebells, one with heavy weights). I started weight lifting one year before tackling nutrition as I found it easier to add something I like to do consistently before trying to eat less. As a matter of fact, it is easier for me to stick to the caloric deficit now that I have gained a bit of muscle. I lost 25kg since last june and will try to keep all the good habits so that I lose more without losing too much muscle mass. Also, I walk one hour each day, 20 min after each meal and it really helped.

A solid set of exercises for sure. I've told others in the past that were scared of beating themselves up with the kettlebell to invest in learning the swing and not worry about cleans or snatches. I'd just tell them to use two hands for cleans. You still get a ton of benefit and eventually most those people ended up wanting to learn how to swing clean and snatch later. Excellent video!
@johnprink6293Күн бұрын
For the past year I have done the kettlebell swing 5 days a week (sometimes 6!) - everyday! About three days a week M/W/F I will do about 150-200 swings broken into sets of 10-15. Tuesday and Friday (and sometime Saturday) I use heavier kettlebells for swings (200-240 or so), snatches and occasionally goblet squats. Jacked up knees from years of powerlifting forced me to find alternatives to training, so no heavy squats anymore. Together with a mace bell, barbells, DB's and rings, plus a lat machine, I've devised a workout that ultimately led me to lose 30 pounds this year and get in great shape. Diet of course helped, but those "little iron balls of hell" made it all possible! Cheers!

I recently found this channel, and I have to say, these exercises are some of the best for core strength and functional conditioning. Most weight training focuses on esthetic fads of muscle development. I don't care about "magnificent pectoral muscles", lol. I care about usable strength and all-around conditioning. So some of your methods I'm adding into my exercise program. Thanks for the well rounded exercises.

@petersteve8164 no, I had 2 little cats dumped in my yard. When I made the channel years ago, I just got them. But KZbin didn't change the name to gotnokittys, like I did, when coyotes ate the cats. It was all a low-effort naming out of boredom, years ago. & I just said "fukkit" I don't care. I have dogs that hunt cats, so it's good camo, lol.

If you Gentlemen are looking for a cardiovascular/weightloss program try the following. 1. Get a heart rate monitor chest strap and watch. 2. Find your target heart rate (220-your age ) for me it is 220-50= 170. 3. Set the alarms on your heart rate monitor for 85% of target heart rate and 70% of target heart rate. 4. Get a kettlebell if you dont have one. 5. Get a timer. Here is how it works. You set the timer for 20 minutes. You start performing swings until the 85% alarm goes of. You rest until the 70% alarm goes off. You keep track of the number of times you complete the 70% to 85%. What you will find when you train this way is, as you get in better cardiovascular shape your rest periods will get shorter and you will have to work harder to get your heart rate up. The benefit of using a kettlebell you can change the work load. You can start with a heavier kb and move to lighter one to extend the workout or you can use a heavier kettlebell oneday and a lighter kb the next day meaning you are not limited by soreness.

This is true, but sadly not every one can do it, especially the one who need it the most, the overweight (and also the deconditioned) people... That's why they need to make their core and muscle strong first...
@JBBII3 күн бұрын
Mark can you speak to whether these workouts should be done as metabolic conditioning with little rest and a higher heart rate or more like a traditional strength program, i.e., what is best for fat loss and muscle retention. Thanks for the videos.
@alfredmines55353 күн бұрын
I have found doing 2 handed swings then adding Kb halos, loaded caries, goblet squats, burpees, push ups, stair climbers from push up position & running in place as a circuit with little rest seems to help me personally lose fat & retain muscle. It may not work for you but, it's fun & worth a try. Good luck
@charlesanthony79543 күн бұрын
The way I do it is to start with a 3-5 rep max weight and do auto-regulated sets of 1-3 reps, resting as much as I need to put full power with good technique into every set. Over the course of weeks, I increase the sets and decrease the rest until I am doing 20 minutes on the minute with very good recovery. At this point I retest max reps at current weight and 1-5 rep max at higher weight. Then, start a new program either with higher reps or higher weight. Basically, moving from strength/power to strength endurance/ conditioning and back to strength. I keep moving up with steady progress in both lean mass and endurance this way.

Thanks for all your videos. Mid-60's here, just started kettle bells 11 months ago. I discovered your channel about 6 months ago and by using the exercises you share, have shown the most progress. I did purchase a plastic set of light weight kettle bells for learning new movements. Mainly because the diminsions are closer to a heavier steel kettle bell, without trying to wrestle a heavier weight.

I am assuming (yes I know) he means accelerating the bell down and through the legs rather than just letting fall through the arc. This way it becomes heavier and engages the glutes etc etc

Everything is clear with the weight of the kettlebells and the exercises, but how many approaches should I do and how many lifts in an approach? How should I build a training program? Not a word about that. Those who are prepared can lift 12 times. And what is that whole workout? 12 swings, 12 squats, 12 kettlebell points? Is that all?
That's his whole programing Playlist, took 4 seconds to look up

I think it's true that Mark is making a number of claims that exhaggerate the benefits of KB training over diet for weight loss. How important do you think carbs are for promoting strong athletic performance? Are there variation between carb sources which makes them more or less useful for the body/your goals similar to fats?
