I learned treble clef by playing trumpet starting in 4th grade, and piano in older teens. My piano teacher taught chords in the left hand "pointer system" where your left index point to the root so you're in 2nd inversion. So only needed treble clef. trying to learn bass clef at retirement age. PS it's hard to hear your voice but it's good when you are closer.

I also learnt to read music in my 20s when i learnt trumpet. Now in my fifties and playing guitar I've struggled to transfer that knowledge to the guitar. I'm fairly tab dependent for new tunes. Im just a hobbiest so not sure music reading is essential, but I'd like to know more for guitar than I do. I try to refer to the notation when reading tab if it's included. I have quite an old book by Arnie Berle, New Guitar Techniques for Sight Reading, which starts in a similer way to Ted T's book, by learning the notes on a single string, 1st to 12th fret. I'm going to revisit this book over the winter. Interesting video, thanks Marcus

@@mharri3677 - hi Marcus. If you want to learn to read, I’d encourage you just to try to do a little bit every day. At the beginning, it’s going to be like going to the dentist, but if you stick with it, you’ll start to see progress and that will encourage you to continue on.
