As much as I love this version of this song. I still perfer the original radio version and the album version better. But don't you ever doubt that this version was great. Just say Lulu was definitely feeling it that night. She definitely nailed it, and she was definitely feeling it when she saw her version on American Idol. Just for you to know, I totally and completely love this song. Lulu was definitely on fire that night.

Lulu was my first ever favorite singer when I was in high school. In 1980, I went to England and saw her perform 3 times in a club and hung out with her in her dressing room after each show. Later, we had tea together at London's Ritz Hotel for an hour. It's a memory I won't ever forget!

Every time I watch this performance a great wave of goosebumps arrive on my arms at 1:59 without fail. That gorgeous tone, the terrific emotion, the sheer power buoyed by "this is how it's done" control...what a vocal passage. From that point on in the song, it's sheer perfection. What a great arrangement by Manilow and stupendous performance by Lulu.
