Of course BYDGOSZCZ "before 1945 belonged to Germany" because they invaded Poland in 1939. Polish government after defeat did not sign capitulation so they occupied Bydgoszcz the same as other Polish cities, as the result of invasion. Before 1939 Bydgoszcz was a Polish city.

You mention just economically prosperous Poznań in your description but you could add GNIEZNO - the first capital of Polish Kingdom. Also WRZEŚNIA is historic town. In 19th century Polish school children there started patriotic strike against German occupying authorities. They had refused to use mandatory German language at school and started to speak Polish, which until then was forbidden and severely punished. This spontanous strike became a symbol for Poles on their way to regain independence.

In Europe they have weird perception what first class is in train. Little bigger, more comfortable seat than usual and they already label it first class. In former Soviet Union first class was only spacious 2 bed compartment with bedsheets, blankets, pillows, often complimentary slippers, newspapers, tea and biscuits. If in compartment was 4 berths, it was 2nd class, if compartments were "open", without doors, so called platzkart, it was 3rd class. Sitting car, so called общий вагон had no class at all. It was cheapest and the worst place in train. In jõurney more than couple of hours everyone tried to get at least 3rd class platzkart or 2nd class compartment ticket. 1st class was very expensive and only few passengers could afford it.

You wrote a lot of rubbish in the comments!!!!!! Example: Before World War II, Bydgoszcz didn't belong to Germany. During the partitions of Poland (1795-1918), Bydgoszcz was transferred to Prussia only in 1815. The city returns to Poland after regaining independence, it returned on January 20, 1920, taken over by the Greater Poland army under the Treaty of Versailles. After the beginning of the Second W.W. (September 1939). The first extermination action aimed at the liquidation of the Polish political and intellectual elite was carried out in Bydgoszcz, and the main executor was the paramilitary Selbstschutz. During the first four months of the occupation, the Germans murdered up to 5,000 residents of Bydgoszcz in secret or public executions etc.
