To Stack Or Not To Stack Your Military Helmets?

If you need extra space then stack and use some old t-shirts as padding between them. In the case as you mentioned though with brittle liners that’s a time I’d agree not to stack.

Awesome video!! I’ve specifically thought of all of your points since I have extremely limited space, I only have three helmets stacked. The bottom one is a repro M42 stalhelm, the middle is an OG Vietnam M1 with repro cover, and the top is a size 3 SSH-60. I tried to place the largest one in size on the top to not damage the shell of M1, but once I do get more space I’ll be sure to unstack them.

Duh. I put CLOTH towels between each helmet. All my helmets have pristine liners. I don't stack damaged or falling apart helmets. But all my pristine or good condition helmets, of COURSE I can stack them as long as I have proper padding between them. I also store them sideways in boxes if I'm not displaying them, so that I don't create weight from a TALL STACK against the bottom helmet.

i stack em simply out of neccesity. i dont have the space aviable currently to give each an individual spot

Dont stack....the liner of the top helmet in contact with the top of the shell underneath it can deteriorate over time and in the case of ww2 british helmets can leave a nice black ring around the shell of the helmet its stacked on top of.

If it’s original I don’t stack, If it’s a helmet for re-enactments I will stack them.

Some of my helmets are stored in my garage. They are stacked with a ‘T’ shirt between each one, they do not scratch of get damaged.

Do you find styrofoam heads to be damaging to helmets and caps? I've heard so many different answers on this, what works for you?

I don’t use styrofoam because overtime it can deteriorate leather. I prefer to use plastic or wood for helmet stands.
