Priceless. Where has this been hidden for the last six years?

Wow, just fantastic, especially to see Jim Clark featured.

I love Hy Gardener, his semi British semi American accent. It's great how my generation have known the legend of Betty White, Polly Bergen and Don Amiche and now can see why in these brilliant video's. The 50s is a decade if sure we can learn a lot from.

Two came to sad endings. Clark was killed in a 1968 race. Thompson was murdered by his business partner in 1988. Brabham and Moss lived to ripe old ages.

So did Phil Hill, he lived to old age

Amazing, Phil really never let them see him coming!

He was smart enough to supply as little information as possible, making the imposters seem more knowledgeable.

Wow...All of these drivers featured in this video are no longer with us. Gone, but definelty not forgotten, all of them.

Jimmy Clark was the only one who died in a race car. These programs appeared 60 - 65 years ago, so everyone on the show has probably died.

Of all the panelists on the different shows, Laraine Day had a connection to the sports world. Unfortunately the sport was baseball not auto racing, since she was married to Leo Durocher.

$5,000 USD seems like very very small price for the winner of a race, compared to today´s purses.

And racing back then was many times more dangerous, with multiple deaths every year.
@RRaquello10 ай бұрын
Back then the GP circuit didn't pay much. A driver would make more money by winning the Indianapolis 500 than by winning all the Formula One races combined, which is why both Brabham & Jimmy Clark took a shot at Indy. Clark succeeded but Brabham didn't. Nowadays it's the opposite with Formula One paying much more than Indy Car racing.

I just can't understand how the panellists could be so ignorant about the contemporary greats of their day!
@artdecotimes29423 жыл бұрын
People these days can't even think that automobiles could go 100 until the 1980s. They are so far behind yet think they are so far in the future, using 2021 like their reward, when they didn't do anything.

I’m surprised they knew as much as they did. Like knowing what Monza is. There was less access back then, I don’t think f1 races were broadcast on American television back then. If this was on today I’d expect the ignorance of asking what side the steering wheel is on. Not everyone is as autistic about f1.

@@Barfyman362. Monza was a well know name in the US even at the time. One of Chevy's Corvair models was named the Monza

Sadly they still haven't figured out who murdered Mickey Thompson and his wife.

In 2007, his former business partner Mike Goodwin, the inventor of Supercross racing was convicted of the 1988 murder-for-hire of Thompson & his wife using circumstantial evidence. The 2 black perps who allegedly did the killing & who were spotted by eyewitnesses leaving the scene have not been identified as of May 2022.
