People forget how incredibly successful and dominant in the music scene the McGuire Sister had been. Incredibly successful. Betty White is still alive which is amazing. What a survivor and talent. I believe Phyllis McGuire is still alive today. This broadcast is 65 years ago. Astounding!

Phyllis is the last one left as she was the youngest. My grandmother Dorothy (middle child) passed in 2012 and Christine passed in December of 2018. Amazing to see these videos surviving on the internet in 2020!

Phyllis passed last year and now Betty white. Two of my favorite acts, the McGuire sisters and Betty white, all gone now.

Feb 3rd 1959 also was the date of The Day the Music died, the plane crash that took the lives of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper.

Interesting that this aired the exact same day "The Music Died"; the plane crash that killed Holly, Valens, Richardson, and their pilot Roger Peterson

Good catch on that. Now we can blame the McGuire Sisters.

Game #2: there is an interesting PBS documentary on Dicky Chappelle available in KZbin entitled “Behind the Pearl Earrings.”

I didn't think #1 could be the McGuire sisters' mom, because when she said her name it sounded like she said, "Reverence," not, "Reverend."

They picked a McGuire look alike .... Number 2. Very clever. Maybe they did that a lot. Barely remember the show.

This panel isn't exactly a group of super sleuths when asking questions. Ralph Bellamy asks a question that was answered in the affidavit: the first names of the sisters.

He toned it down and became more serious about the game as time went on, especially after Orson Bean became a regular and also supplied some comic chops (and occasionally Peggy Cass did also).

Tom Posten was a great comedic actor who was the ultimate sideman. He made Bob Newhart’s 1980’s show with his understated comedy. But I get your comment in that he sort of joked about dating the McGuire Sisters and their Mom during the show but it was 65 years ago--YES 65 YEARS AGO!!! YIKES!!-and it was a different time and place and you could say things that were taken differently then than it would be now. You gotta cut Tom some slack. What he was saying 65 years ago was generally accepted as funny and, most likely, the same person would not make the same jokes and comments today. Still, Tom Posten was an amazing supporting tv comedic actor.

Tom Poston was hired for TTTT because he was intelligent, quick on his feet, likable and had a good sense of humor. Plus, some of the viewers knew him from the popular Steve Allen show. ITA, some of the jokes are dated--because it was 65 yrs ago. Different world. I read an interview w/him from the early 60s. It's been awhile since I read it--but I remember he said it was easier to do Steve Allen show than TTTT. There were writers on Steve Allen. On TTTT, he said u had to be charming, funny and come come up with the questions. He mentioned that the panelists hoped to go last because it gave them some time to think of questions. I think he said when he started on the show--they had a little time to read over the affidavits prior to taping--but then it was all done during taping. He lovedl working with the other panelists--and it was like a family. Tom Poston def was a wonderful comedic actor> loved him on Newhart and all the other shows he appeared on that I've seen.

If the journalist was with Castro, she must have known he was a communist. I wonder if she mentioned that in her articles?
