One of the most endearing things anout TTTT is the ending, starting in about 1963 or so, when the challengers & panel go out to meet & chat. Marvelous episode & I got them all right for a change....Peggy Fleming, I knew her, but I guessed the other 2 !!! Thanks for the upload !

This was in the time where the skaters had to do "school figures". Peggy did very well in that category. There was one skater in the 70s who excelled in the school figures but stank in her long program and was awarded the Gold.. I'm glad those school figures have gone the way of the Dodo and we now have Short Program/ Long Program. It's more exciting!!🎈🎈

The great Peggy Fleming = talent, grace, and dignity. She is still with us at age 84. May God bless her always. I guess the panel did not watch Wide World of Sports with the legend Jim McKay where they would have seen Peggy skating and winning. She was unknown to all but skating fans at that time most likely.

I didn't remember her from 1966 but from the 1968 Olympics where she won the gold medal (The only 68 Winter Olympian to do so) and then her own TV broadcast specials as well as other skating events and announcing skating events including the Olympics. . She is beautiful and I have always had a crush on her . She has also been married to the same man since 1970 . She also didn't start skating until 1961

What isn't mentioned is that America's preeminence in figure skating was lost in one tragic moment, when the core of the U.S. team was killed in a plane crash en route to the 1961 world championships. Fleming and other developing skaters had to be brought up sooner than expected (she finished 6th in the 1964 Innsbruck Games)

1.) More and more, as I begin watching these kinescopes, I can tell which episodes of a particular episode originally aired in b&w and which aired in color, especially from 1965-1968. 2.) Collette Daiute, the Miss Teen for 1966, actually made a cameo on a third season episode of "The Patty Duke Show", some weeks or months before her appearance here, and 3.) Bud Collyer was the voice of Superman both on radio and the Fleischer Brothers cartoon shorts of the 1940's. He was reprising the role, this time for Filmation. On top of that, he was simultaneously doing the voice of Superboy, also for Filmation.

Peggy wore that simple green costume during her skating routine. Today's outfits are so skimpy and revealing that it makes you think they think the judges wouldn't see any mistakes while looking at their nothingness. I think their outfits should be OKed.
@tuxtommy69
@tuxtommy69 4 жыл бұрын
Wearing a chartreuse-green dress had nothing to do with being Irish. Grenoble (Olympic site) was near the French city Chartreuse where the liqueur of the same name & color is made. Peggy said in an interview that she & her mother (who designed and made her outfits) thought that the mostly French audience would appreciate and enjoy the "nod" to that fact!
