Sierra Leone makes me think of the adage, “Be careful what you wish for.” They have one of the highest rates of poverty, infant/child/mother mortality, unemployment, lack of sanitation and safe drinking water, poor nutrition, illiteracy and poor quality health care in the world, as of 2019. An 11-year civil war killed tens of thousands and displaced a third (2 million) of the population (source: cia.gov). A mere 5 years after this broadcast Mr. Collier fled SL to the U.S. after the military took over rule.

4:54 Johnny Carson was a bad panelist. He wasted so much time on jokes and useless comments. It seems that on every show, he spent so much time telling us that he knows nothing about whatever the subject was. The net result of his participation was that less information was available and less actual interaction with the challengers took place. As with his entire career, slickness and shtick took precedence over actual interview ability.
