Yeah, I actually feel the same way about the unresolved ending. But for me personally, whenever I played I found I just had to finish it off! Maybe it's because I wanted there to be an ending for the song, to end the story of Johnny. Plus it was also an excuse to add the little 'ding' at the end which I wanted to represent the star in the sky which has meaning to the story haha :)
