I think it's awesome how Dwight sticks to his Kentucky Roots. A true Appalachian!

As a born Kentuckian who has traveled around a bunch of different places, I can definitely say that we're definitely a unique culture. I love that he's able to punctuate that so well in his words. He's exactly right. It's a boarder state, not Dixie, not northern. It's different than Tennessee and Georgia but it has very little in common with Ohio and the rest of the upper-Midwest.

It's like Dwight was part of my family. The life he is singing about is the lifestyle that i lived. Only i was in NC. My father died when i was very young,we lived with my grandparents who lived back in "holler" in the blue hills of the those mountains. As i listen to this song as well as Readin Writen Route 23 i have cold chills i re-live my childhood. Thanks for this viedo and to Dwight Yoakam.

great continuation video... can't wait to see more! must have been wonderful to grow up in a loving family, even if they might have been poor. i'd trade in a heartbeat. Coal mines and all. Dwight Yoakam, on "Miner's Prayer": Miner's Prayer is dedicated to the memory of Luther Tibbs. A Kentucky coal miner for 40 years, and my Grandpa. When the whistle blows each morning And I walk down in that cold, dark mine I say a prayer to my dear Savior Please let me see the sunshine one more time...
