I just love skid and pump's new design. The puppet-master trope is usually interpretated as an evil being controlling an unassuming disguise, but the way skid keeps a creepy but more cute smile the entire time sort of gives off a mutual and friendly vibe.

My theory: The father is in his 20s trying to win the heart of a woman he loves (the “beta” GF) but eventually is challenged by the yellow guy, the father is a famous rockstar while the other guy is a rapper. Eventually the father lost, and the girl and the rapper get together while the father met another woman he loved (the mom) they each had a kid, the father and the mother being the the parents of the GF while the rapper and the woman have the BF as their kid, who looked up to the father as a iconic rapper, and met the GF when they were little, they eventually became a music group challenging others, while the BF tries to be just as amazing as his father, while the GF tries to prove to her parents that she can be just as amazing. Eventually, both the BF’s parent retire from their careers, and so do the mother and father, the father and mother though meet the BF and want to see what had become of the fathers old rival. (Moving onto the pump and skid theory) the beta guys used to be skid’s great grandfather and always wanted his grandkid to be happy, so he brought his old puppet to life, which he named pump, they both eventually became litter singers themselves.
