As someone whos lived in both places, its only "real" because of how much more struggle there is to do things here. People have to mind to themselves otherwise they fall apart here. in LA you get to relax and take time with stuff because doing things does not take as long which then can lead to more conversations that can be really fun and entertaining or fake depending on the people and how you interact with them. i cant even start a conversation in manhattan w someone because theyre too focused on themselves (not blaming but if we wanna talk about fake or not, the ego is involved here and thinking your business is all that you should pertain to is ego)

NY kills it with the variety anything cultural dish you can think of NY has.. NY food > LA food LA has certain good restaraunts but pales in comparison to NY ..

I’ve worked in both NY and LA. I would say the city layout in NY is way better. But food in NY… eh… it’s good but expensive. At least LA is close to all the farm land and seafood in California which in my opinion is better. But one thing I would say is that being an Asian male in LA is more comfortable. Being Asian in NY is you’ll still face openly racist folks screaming “KONICHIWA” from their taxis. In LA the probability of getting shat on for being Asian is much lower than in NY.

LA loves drama while NY keeps to themselves. LA might have better Mexican food but Mediterranean and European food is way better on the east coast (like pasta, pizza, gyros, kebab, steaks/ny steak/ny cheesecake/ny pizza/ny hamburger)

These are such massive general statements, by both Toast and the comments. You can only really compare NYC to LA county. It’s apples and oranges. NYC just has better urban development with things being compact and transportations being easy. LA is too spread out and allows for a larger melting pot. I would agree LA food is far better than NYC.

People who visit NY always love it, but living it on long term will bore you out, you start smelling it on the road, the weather suck every other day. Also wortn nothing, New York currently isnt best place for asian. Cali is hell, but as long you got money is better choice, especially if you outgoing person.
