Investigation of the aerodynamics of the toaster-shaped Mitsubishi Colt Ralliart Z27AG using basic wool tuft analysis and other techniques.
This episode: I got my hands on some commercial canards. Can I make them work for the Colt? Wool tuft testing ensues.

Why have I never seen that method of airflow testing without computer software before?? Takes a few people, but that's amazing.

Finally, I greatly appreciate the time and effort you've spent to make this video, it's well worth it. The one I installed were ABS plastic copy of canards designed for an Evo X, composed of 2 short and 2 longer canards, it should not be that hard to find cz it's sold all over online. The mounting edge is a bit straight, but since it's made with plastic, some heat helped molding it to the curve of the bumper.

Interesting stuff, love all the aero stuff you do

Maybe the canard should be lengthened so that it "blends" into the wheel arch. The longer length allowing the vortex to 'jump' onto the rear of the front wing. A raised lip, facing towards the front of the car, could also help. Yep, I have no idea what I'm talking about but it could be worth a try. Either way, good luck 👍.

I wonder if a multi-element canard might not function better at a high angle of attack?

Dunno. However high angle = more drag so I would be pessimistic.

what tape did you use to hold it in place while testing? id be so afraid of it falling off

For testing I used mainly gaffer (duct) tape. It was fine up to 160km/h with testing (video to come).
