Hi there, I own the base ps5 and a gaming pc roughly around the Pro specs and it's a difficult answer as to which I would say is better or recommend as they both have their own strengths and weaknesses. I think my recommendation depends on the type of games your boyfriend plays, budget, if he wants to upgrade in future and if he likes to adjust the settings of his games. The ps5 is really great for what it offers at its price point. It's hard to get that level of hardware in a pc at that price point unless its second hand but PC definitely allows the flexibility of being able to upgrade individual parts. If he's a avid gamer that likes to adjust every individual setting and likes to adjust graphical settings then I would say PC. The Ps5 offers great price to performance and amazing optimization. Sorry I know the question wasnt if you should get a ps5 or PC but I thought id give my 5c. With a PC you'll need so many things from CPU, motherboard, graphics card, NVME drive to run games off of and a processor. The Ps5 has everything together with great optimization for first party games. It all depends. This is ofcourse my personal opinion and I know many people will likely disagree.

The things is, most people who did get or consider getting PS5 Pro are usually gamers who play games on a TV setup and not monitors. I think the 4K TV setup is where this kind of console will truly shine. Especially with gamers who can afford high end TVs with big screen, VRR and ALLM support. I've tried the PS5 Pro on my TV (It's a LG C3 65"), playing some first party titles that i got on the PC as well, the PS5 Pro looks and performs great. Games like Horizon and God of War Ragnarok even get up to 100+ fps upscaled to 4K with PSSR. It's crazy to see console pushing out almost the same quality on a 4K as PC when it comes to single player games like that.

Interesting comparison and relatively good video, although I will say I wish there were less shooter comparisons. Also in doing those shooter comparisons and bringing up ps plus it reminded me that the big multiplayer games on PlayStation do not require plus to play them. Fortnite, Warzone, Apex, Valorant, Genshin, Overwatch, the finals, marvel rivals, do not need plus at all. The perks of plus are getting additional skins, 3 games a month and extra cloud storage/saves. Also why didn’t they add an extra terabyte to the cost cause the pro has 2 TB

Right. Those are the games that people would get a PS5 Pro for - especially if the game has ray tracing. People who are playing FPS games pretty exclusively/competitively are going to be playing PC, not console. Plus it’s important to keep in mind the consoles deal with much less stuttering issues that the PC has been dealing with lately(I see stutters even on my more high end rig).

@@siddbeast Considering Black Friday is coming up soon, you will probably be able to get a PS5 slim for a really good price (370-450). If you go for the Pro and you still want to play disc games, you have to add another 80 dollars to the cost to pick up a disc drive. If you have the extra money and want to treat yourself, you’ll definitely be blown away by the PS5 Pro and have it for a while(plus it does have 2TB storage vs 1TB in the regular console). That being said, it’s not 200-300$ better. If you can get a PS5 on Black Friday for under 400$(which I’m pretty sure you will be) then that is definitely a much better deal. It’s important to keep in mind the PS5 is not a bad console or out of date by any means. It’s a very good console and will be supported for a long time. It is also worth considering if you buy a PS5 Pro, you’ll probably have it a good 7-8 years before you’ll need to upgrade again(unless you really want the PS6 when it comes out). Anyway, I hope that helps. There’s not really a clear answer. If money is tight, just get the regular PS5. If you have the money and want to treat yourself to a really great console experience, then get the Pro.

I never trust this type of reviews. For one I tried to build a pc here for what you claim is same as a ps5 pro and could not, even though I myself think that the rx6800 is not on par with ps5 pro GPU, closest i build was around £850. and you not even added a mouse and keyboard to the pc build and free version of windows also. you need to add to build 2tb of nvme not 1 tb.. I never trust this sorta reviews at all.

I just built my first PC and switched to PC gaming from console gaming my whole life. What an absolute eye opening experience! I knew PC gaming would be better but I didn't know it would be as good as it is! Mouse and keyboard is so buttery smooth and precise!! I won't use a controller for anything other than maybe Dark Souls or Elden Ring or racing games but for anything else, it's M&K all the way! I'm glad I finally made the switch. I have been able to buy multiple games on Steam for the price it would cost to pay for a Playstation Plus subscription. Another thing that I was blown away by was the graphics. The image is so much sharper and more detailed! A lot of pc gamers assume console users have the same behavior as us. "If consolers do [this many costly things], it'll be more expensive" has far too many caveats. Most consolers won't have most of those, if any. Btw, Ps+ is $10/mo or 80/yr. Consolers generally: 1) don't sub perpetually, just ad hoc for the month's specific games they'd wanna try and rather not buy (3 mo/yr avg). 2) higher ratio playing 1p games 3) far lower ratio playing MMOs, MOBAs, Gachas, etc. 4) aren't upgraders, most Ps4 Pro owners were 1st time buyers. Even assuming 20 $70 ps5 games ($60 on pc) + 3mo/y avg subs over 4 years: Ps5 Pro $700 + 20 games $1400 + $10(subs 3mo x 4yrs) = $2220 (+$80 w/disc drive) Pro-equivalent Pc $900* + 20 games $1200 = $2100 If 10 games, it's pc $1500 vs pro $1520 (+$80 w/disc drive) You'd have to buy $600 dollars in games to reach parity. *pc parts picker price around black Friday. touche about PS+, I used to sub all year long, but at one point during the PS4 days I realize that I have not played multiplayer for over a year so I unsubbed and never look back, most people also did not sub according to data released by Sony. It also gives you access to 3-4 games a month, so if PC needs to be equivalent they should factor in the cost as well..... reality is, when PC folks want to "factor in costs" to make the console comparison to PC, we might also argue that they should "factor in costs" that they typically omits for PC or do things like using used parts, there will be no end to it because these things are optional and down to personal preference. Got to say it's more about where you want to play and the subscription deals. In the livingrooom, physically It's just awkward even with a gaming laptop. The consoles never require a keyboard/mouse, manual updates, wires which can't be organized/CLUTTER Also, if you have a subscription you get WAY more content on consoles - MS has some PC stuff while Sony... not so much. There are hundreds of titles you must run on an XBox. There are hundreds of titles you must run on a PS. Want to run a 'AAA' title via cloud with Sony, better have a PS5, not even a PS4Pro will do. It's kind of a mess out there, but the point is - consoles with subscriptions make for very affordable entertainment _(which you don't own - that's a whole other topic)_ === missed the ending, _"which one are you picking up?"_ neither... happy with the PS5 and my gaming laptop runs everything good enough for me - I was just cureous about what you guys thought Still running a PS4 Pro in a bedroom and like 95%+ of the game library is available.... and once I get sucked into a fun game, reflections/shadows/textures - that sh!t just doesn't matter to me - all I want is some fun

While I agree with most everything you've presented, I have to state that the bulk of the console gamers I know do not want to go all digital. I game on both PC and Xbox, I find that in FPS shooters M&K users have a distinct advantage. And even though I could use M&K on Xbox, I don't. Doubt it. A PS5 is definitely around a 2070 super or better, and the PS5 pro is better. So the upper mid-end to upper end of the previous generation equals more or less the most powerful current console. So a PS6 might have something equivalent to an upper mid 4000/5000 nvidia or AMD. So a 6800 would be ancient by then, being it's not even as powerful as a 3080 and it's already 4, almost 5 years old right now

The huge downside to a PS5/pro is that they have a equivalent Ryzen 3700x with the pro being apparently boosted by 10% as it's cpu and even that's not as good as a legit cpu because it's a Custom chip and it's aging especially when modern games are optimised like crap. No it's not equivalent to Ryzen 3700x not even close. Fist: It's undercooked. Second: It doesn't use 8 Cores to run games. It only uses 6 Cores. The other 2 cores are allocated by the Operating System. So overall. CPU inside PS5PRO is worse then Ryzen 5 3600.

If you want a PC that equals the PS5 Pro It all comes out to average $1,500 for all brand-new parts with the controller. ps5 has rdna 3 gpu with machine learning and ray tracing hardware with the power of a 6800xt which costs $400. 6800XT doesn't have machine learning or ray tracing hardware though and that technology is releasing next year with AMD RDNA4 GPU it will cost around $500. PSSR which is close to DLSS. The CPU is a downclocked 5700x which is close to a 3700x with a 10% possible boost. $200. It has 18gb of ram. $60. Cooler? The PS5 has liquid metal cooling for the CPU so you'd go with a liquid cooler and that's like $150 for a decent one. 2tb nvme equal to a WD Black SN850 which is $185. Motherboard? well the mobo would have to have support for wifi 7 which can cost you 300-400 but you could just get wifi 6 to drop the price down to 160-200. PSU- Well this is up to you but I'd personally get a gold standard 800 watt to future proof. You can get a great ASUS 850 Gold for around $100. Extremely happy to see more people doing budget builds but factoring in that things like PS+ have extra costs that add up over time. TBH I would say it would be cool to go even more aggressive next time: Factor in 3-5 years of PS+, savings of buying games on pc (Maybe average it out to games PS5 being 20% more expensive due to steam sales and such on PC), etc and then compare it to the PS5 Pro. I think people would be shocked at how all those hidden costs add up over time and how just spending that kind of money upfront on a PC could give you an insanely badass machine that far outperforms and outlasts a console.

My PC's main component I guess was the B550 mobo. I started with a Ryzen 3100 and RX 5500. It now has a Ryzen 5700X 3D and RX 7700 XT. My son has a Xbox Series S which has suited what games he plays but I've loved being able to progressively upgrade and sell off components in my rig.

I got a better build for less then 750 a Ryzen 7 5700x3d and a 7700xt with 32gb 3600mhz. But that one is good and in America the prices are diferente. Keep up the good work 😊

i own both pc and ps5, now the ps5 pro. the fastest console ever is always exciting. tech is fun. like when the 5090 comes out (not buying that though) running the ps5/ps5 pro on a 4k 144hz monitor is so nice. yeah some upscaling sure, but you doing that on pc too, i can't go back to 1440p now after using 4k for around 4 years now

Got my 3080 pc and just got my pro. As an adult nothing beats plopping on the couch and just booting up a console, the days being in the corner by myself hunched over a desk exclusively, days are behind me just like everquest and world of warcraft. Still hop on for some league of legends every now and then though

Got two pro for myself and my husband. Build a pc with 980ti 10 years ago. Try to upgrade it during pandemic and the price just keeps getting higher. I might upgrade it for 50series. I am happy with what 700 dollars pro can do. I mean just go for what you can afford.
