Finally, was waiting for this video. I felt like the OG cheapest Walmart PC was so unbalanced and trash, a stick of ram, a hyperthreaded cpu and a decent GPU could do the trick for the vast majority for 1080p gaming, and 720p for more demanding games.

G'day Toasty's, Great video showing how to actually install the upgrade components, You mentioned fitting a i3-10100/10105 & GTX1050TiLP/1650LP as a more powerful upgrade, but from memory aren't these GPUs 2slot PCIe, 🤔 The Motherboard is DTX & at 12:23 you can see the top PCIe is 1x so the PCIe16x is the bottom slot making the PSU stop a 2slot GPU from fitting, other than a GT1030 if you are lucky you may find a GALAX GTX 750 Ti OC Slim or Yeston RX550-4G D5 LP 1slot, which from what I understand would be the only GPUs more powerful & still compatible with this PCs Layout, still leaving a 4c/8t i3 as huge overkill

Yeah I have the same question cause I picked one of these up a week or two ago and I wanted to see if I could fit a GPU that wouldn't fry the 180 watt power supply... I could always upgrade the power supply to maybe 300-400, but since its still a pretty small case I didn't know if I could fit one in there...
@shaneeslick
@shaneeslick 3 жыл бұрын
@@nidalj1 G'day, I hope this can be of help to you if you do plan to upgrade your PC & maybe help Luvvy too, Without making any Major Upgrades beyond a GPU R3 3200G has a 65W TDP (although that is not Specific Power Draw, can be a rough guide for PSU & Cooler Spec) the max GPU I would recommend would be a GTX1050/1050Ti/1650 which have a 75W TDP, that together would be 140W leaving the other 40w for the SD, Hard Drive, Fans etc, The case does support 'Standard Width' GPUs so you wouldn't need a LowProfile version like the Toasty's used in this video, but preferably get one that Doesn't Require a 6pin PCIe Power plug, These are the TechPowerUp pages so you can scroll down the model list (each is a link to their own page) & check on each model to see if they do need extra power, www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-gtx-1050.c2875 www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-gtx-1050-ti.c2885 www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-gtx-1650.c3366 at 100W TDP even a GTX1650Super besides needing a 6pin PCIe would be a risk as the CPU & GPU would be demanding all the safely available power from the PSU, so not leaving power for Storage & Fans, Here is a link to HP Support video of Removing & Replacing Parts | HP Desktop M01-F0000 | HP Computer Service | HP: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHavqqqofqmUqKM It shows that although the PSU is not an 'ATX Standard' model the case does have the extra mounting holes for an 'ATX Standard' PSU, but the included Power supply does have the Proprietary HP 12v Only Cables for the Motherboard, so changing it if possible would require an adapter from ATX 24pin, Another thing to consider is Airflow, After Upgrading & Building many PCs for people one thing I have learned is that GPUs struggle for Fresh Air in these HP & Dell Cases, even RX570/580 & GTX1060s will run REALLY HOT with the side of the case on, so even with a PSU Upgrade I wouldn't recommend a GPU that exceeds 150W TDP all the best 😁

@@slimespump4l544 G'day, Yeah a GT1030 would be fine as they have a 30W TDP, for gaming they give performance similar to Vega11 IGP in the R5 3400G, depending how prices in your area & your budget also have a look at RX550, RX460/560, they all use DX12 for the latest games & have models that don't require extra 6pin PCIe power, www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/radeon-rx-550.c2947 www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/radeon-rx-460.c2849 www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/radeon-rx-560.c2940 these are the steps for DX12 GPUs without the need for a PSU 6pin PCIe, GT1030, RX550, RX460, RX560, GTX1050, GTX1650, All the best finding something that suits your budget 😁

I had a 1030, and if you just want a media centre it's fine. But for games welcome to the world of some selective 720p gaming. If you mainly want to game a PS4 or last gen Xbox would do you far better. If you get a 1030 or 1050 with a fan, replace it with a Noiseblocker fan and it will be silent. My 1050 that I also owned had a proprietary fan connector but I superglued the fan to the heatsink.

Hello, i need some help and information that i haven't been abel to find anywhere else. I have a HP Slim Desktop S01-pF2013w, one of those sell by Walmart, similar to the one in this video. The specifications are: Processor Intel Core i3-10105, Internal Graphics Intel UHD 630, Fan Cooler, 180W PSU, 8GB DDR4 RAM, 256GB M.2 NVMe SSD Storage, Windows 11 Home, Dark Black. I want to know if it's possible to upgrade the CPU to the Intel Core i5-10400 taking into consideration the 180W PSU, both processors have a TDP of 65W. I don't plan on installing any dedicated GPU or any other power consumption item except for one or maybe two HDDs for extra storage. I'm not a gamer but i will do some video encoding from time to time, so those extra cores and threads would come in handy. Next year i'll build my dream CPU more powerful but until then i'll be using my HP Slim Desktop. Can I upgrade the CPU? Is it safe? Will 180W be enough? I hope anybody can help me, i don't know why this info is so hard to get.

this might work here instead of the normal i3-10300 get the i3-10300T which are the lowered TDP version of the CPU which only runs at 25W do not plug the optical drive and you should be under the 180W of the PSU with 22W to spare. bur yea this PC was terrible to start with, if it has the 250W or 300W PSU, you will easily drop the more powerful CPU and GPU combo like an i5 and GTX 1650 LP

the hp website says you can upgrade to Intel Core i7-10700F (Comet Lake-S) 2.9 GHz base frequency, up to 4.8 GHz with Intel Turbo Boost Technology, 16 MB L3 cache, 8 cores and that is 65 watts tdp

i bought a stronger version of this pc that has a bigger power supply, an i5, one card of 8gb ram and 256gb ssd. i honestly bought it as i did want a small pc to have and am planning on upgrading it to a gtx 1650 low profile plus another 8gb of ram to make it 16 and already upgraded by putting a 2tb hard drive in. will be worth it for me

@@gaminggamingtm you'd be surprised but there was no good GPU back then so i took the inner parts i could take and put them in a brand new pc. Luckily tho you can make it much stronger with an rx 6400
