D.O is blowing our minds lately. I don't think he has ever flexed his vocal abilities this much. I honestly was thinking he was paving his way to acting and he would stop singing little by little. Thank god he built his own agency and he is fully dedicated to music!!!

I think he's being flexing since day 1. Afterall, he & baekhyun who incharge of high notes during exo-K era right. It just that since they merged the group, Chen took most of the high notes. But for me, flexing not just about hitting high notes. His low voice resonance is 👍

it was because the agency turned him into the actor of the group. He was once promoted so much as the main vocal during debut days, then after he did his acting debut, they decrease his exposure as singer, even for the album, he did not get adequate amount/lines for his vocal to shine. it's always c or b. the only collab he had during his 12 years with SM was with F(x), and 3 osts. The last ost, BITE was even a request from the director himself bcs apparently SM disagreed to give kyungsoo sing the ost at first place.

I always say this but D.O is not just a cool voice he's a storyteller. He paints the message he wants to get across with his voice. He has a natural tone/timbre too that stands out. And I like that he doesn't depend on it all the time and that shows how professional he is. Like he could use it during his belts which I hear some people do but he doesn't and that's sorta cool. One thing that also stands out to me is the fact that he could sing on such quiet and low notes but somehow holds it perfectly that it doesn't fall off. I'm not a singer and when I try singing those calm songs I struggle. It's hard to put emotion into low toned lines and not lose the edge it needs to keep the song going. I respect him so much. His belts are effortless but his simple songs are gems too . He reminds me of Ed Sheeran's first album . That kind of vibe and talent.

First time I heard, I had goosebumps. By now it’s like the nth time and I can’t really get enough of this song. As you said pure vocals.. Kyungsoo is a phenomenal singer. And so is IU. I do not know anything about vocal techniques but I do know that each time I hear him sing, his singing will touch me and resonate in my heart. I can tell that he has great techniques but it is also the emotions that he triggers in his listeners that amazes me. The first time I listened to About Time, I didn't know the meaning of the lyrics but the raw emotions that he emote when he sung was so painful. After I read the translated lyrics, I was amazed how he managed to convey those exact correct emotions just through his voice.

I'm not an expert when it comes to audio but i'll believe my ear in this one, he didn't use autotune. He is good and this is one of his best performance, I think. (or Kyungsoo) has had two solo mini albums out recently (Expectation & Blossom) & I can't stop playing his latest on repeat. I highly recommend listening to "Lost" (acoustic version) and "About Time" (no MVs).

Yes there is auto tune here. All Korean shows have it, but even so, D.O is one of the best vocalists in kpop and imo the most unique vocal tone male vocalist in kpop. Definitely the best in EXO.

I don't think the IU palette has autotune, it has a background track but not autotune only live raw vocals and even so who knows kyungsoo will know that he adds those little trills and those little crys at the end of each phrase of an acoustic yet soft song to give it more emotion, his agility is beyond anyone in kpop and I say this because I heard many singers from Gen-2 till Gen-5 and nobody has that kind of agility as kyungsoo so he has that quality within him which makes him so different than others also his vocal timbre is so beautiful that you cannot help but listen to it continuously.
