D.O has one of the most "refined" voices in kpop. I don't know if it's cuz he's one of the only singers in kpop with this very agile "melismatic" voice, but he has a very subtle understanding of tone and dynamics that makes his voice very elegant and delicate (and he is one of those who, the higher his voice gets, the more chest-dominant it becomes), which gives this interesting and unique contrast.

You gotta watch the live version because it’s seriously even better!!! SuHyun went live a few days ago and talked about this experience.. she said she had been wanting to sing this song with Kyungsoo and even had a dream about it… during rehearsal prior to the live show (he guested on the show Seasons while she was the host), she said she usually compromises her volume and power when doing duets with other male singers, but this time she was totally shocked with Kyungsoo. She said his power was like at 200%, he couldn’t even hear her. She had to tell herself to wake up and stand up to him. She said it was the first time she was able to use 100% of her power in a duet and it was a really thrilling experience. Because the live went viral, fans kept requesting them to record the full version. And months later we have this but due to their tight schedules they had to record separately. Seriously Doh Kyungsoo is one of the best pop vocalists of our generation. Not kpop. The whole of pop music!!!

I still can't move on from this duo 😭😭 One year ago, Kyungsoo and Suhyun blessed our ears with their 'Rewrite The Stars' cover, where people's reaction on the venue was insane. Everyone was froze.. and the songwriter of Rewrite the Stars said he's obsessed and gasping just like the audience over Kyungsoo and Suhyun's cover of his song. 😂😂 and now after a year we finally get the full cover.. 3:53 its safe to say. D.O. is part of vocal trinity of Exo for a reason. Just cause he doesn't do crazy high notes and falsettos like Chen and Baekhyun doesn't mean he isn't capable. While his strength is in rifts/runs but D.O.'s high notes are always fuller and soulful ❤ check out more of his songs especially the old songs in Exo's discography like What is Love and Black Pearl.

lee suhyun is from akmu! She has one of the prettiest and clearest soprano voices I've heard in pop in a long time. She and DO did a live mini version of this song on a music program called The Seasons last fall that went viral because they both killed it and fans begged for a full version and that's why this video came out! i would encourage you to check out more of exo's songs or live performances in general. DO is one of EXO's three main vocalists along with Chen and Baekhyun. While both Chen and Baekhyun tend to have showier demonstrations of their vocals in EXO tracks and in their solo records since DO likes a more laidback acoustic pop sound for his own work, DO is known as the Run and Tone King among fans for his insane control and precision when it comes to R&B vocal runs and for his open, resonant, and warm tone when he sings. DOH KYUNGSOO OR EXO DO might not be doing the high and falsettos as opening and ending parts, riffs, runs and soul of exo songs are almost all his parts but it doesnt mean he cant hit high notes and falsettos flawlessly (mama reference when it was still exo-k until it was merged with exo-m) He is a genre king, the male kelly clarkson of korea. He is viral NOW (that he is out of SMent) because of these videos that thought he cant do those things. The reason everyone is shocked that HE IS AN EXCELLENT SINGER is that he can flawlessly pull off different genres with his voice, low/falsettos/highs smoothly, clearly not to mention his clear pronunciations in any language or his vowels that every vocal coach admires. And you might find him nonchalant when he sings but his style of singing lets you feel it. If you feel his nonchalant, then he wouldnt be the best actor not only his group but among veterans with 29 awards for nothing right? Ps: he is called the RNB king since debut. he hasnt touch this genre but imagine the IMPACT when everyone who releases rnb music always reference him to do this genre. Lee Suhyun is one of the AKMU sibling. And one of the best effortless vocals I so love. As for D.O., you should watch live version of this. It came first before this studio version. Watch performance of D.O. in Lee Mujin service too. D.O. has the same vocal range as Baekhyun and Chen but D.O. has more texture and color and natural runs and riffs. Xiumin and Suho also has same range. Please watch Cream Soda behind the scene recording. You can hear EXO vocal range, singing the same line but distributed to different members.

Here’s a fun fact about Doh Kyungsoo. He was one of the three special idols of SM Entertainment who trained under the vocal couch, singer and producer Yoo Young-jin, who was with SM entertainment from 1993 to 2023 and was known for only working with idols of exceptional talent. He was coach for only three SM idols. Changmin, Doh Kyungsoo and Winter. D.O. always got parts that suited for EXO but he can sing most people under a bus. Literally one of the best in kpop. Idols find it hard to sing his solo songs because he doesn’t breath much when he sings. Hahahah. Even IU has told him she can’t sing some of his songs. They are hard, technically. Once you dig into his solo work further, you will understand what we mean. His talent was hidden for many years because he was extremely private during EXO’s top years. Now he has matured and handles the spotlight better especially after leaving SM so as you dig deeper into him, he is really going to make you into a big fan with his easy going and cute personality, not to mention his talent.

For 12 years SM held him back, didnt give him a proper promotions for his albums(his 1st album didnt have any promotion at all), a main vocalist who only got 2 osts throughout his career in sm, only has had 1 collab. He slowly got everything right after his left sm and proving not only to everyone but to his group fans who always thought its all because he wanted to, he didnt like to perform, he liked acting than singing, and all the false accusations by his own group fans, he finally freed and alowly got everything himself! The fact they always thought Kyungsoo cant hit a high note, his the 3rd in terms of vocal, thats how theyve been spreading lies everywhere that new fans believed them. Remember how SM cut off a lot of his killing parts in Killing Voice to pronote the other main vocaliats because Kyungsoo didnt remew his contract last year. He went to The Season last year when he was still in sm, promoting his 2nd album singing rewrite the stars with suhyun, just a short part but it wnt viral world wide even the writer of RTS posted on his ig last year. His agency didnt take the advantage of that moment and he went dip. A year later Suhyun finally be able to contact him, and he said yes to sing the full version.
