I think they eventually will. But Route 66 begins in Chicago so they have a little bit more states to cover before they arrive at Illinois.

There is also a few other great easter eggs in ETS 2.For example at the Austrian toll booth there are a few stickers that shows a few payment method like Visa and one of them is called SCS.Also every country in the game that is part of the European union has the license plate in SCS logo at the blue stripes instead of the European union logo.

Looks like you missed the wreck at the edge of Pagoda Springs coming down off Wolf Creek Pass referencing the Song by C.W. McCall "Wolf Creek Pass" in Colorado. The Store is even called Earl's Feed Store referencing the song as well.

There is also the Timberline lodge in Oregon, east of Portland. It can be seen in the distance on the left of the road while going north on the 35 ( I think) . It's the hotel where they shoot the outside scenes of the movie "the Shining" by Stephen King, wich was called the Overlook hotel in the movie.

Fun fact: Some states like Idaho and Wyoming have prefixes on plates that stand for to county (8B= Idaho Falls, etc). If you view plate sim a particular area, the majority of them are the county code prefix, with some from other counties. I’ve noticed more variety on interstates.

One of the costal town on the far west side of the map had the large Yellow Submarine From the Beatles animated movie painted on a wall nestled between some buildings. I forget what city, there aren't many of them and I couldn't find it when I went back to look.
