From the 1920s to the 1950s, the tobacco industry undertook a marketing campaign to hide the hazards of smoking and lure new consumers to its products. This video combines campaign images and the commentary of Stanford experts to demonstrate key tactics in this strategy. With the number of smoking-related deaths estimated to climb from 100 million in the last century to 1 billion in the 21st century, this retrospect provides insight into the industry's ongoing pursuit of profits at the expense of public health.

I started smoking at age 8 in 1963, the doctors on TV said it would help you in sports and being on the swim team I needed to swim faster. After 50 years of smoking I quit cold turkey and hoping I don't get the c word.

There has been an alarming phenomenon of people swearing off coffee. One’s denying oneself the enormous benefits attributed to coffee drinking is a self-inflicted risk Americans should not take.

Martin goode elisha yep and unicorns exist and 9/11 isn’t real and the Lochness monster exists and jfk was an inside job. That’s how you sound, why would you actively ignore medical research trying to help you for an agenda that supports addiction? Tobacco is known to contain multiple carcinogens and tars that with enough consistent build can cause cancers or other infections leading to poor immune systems. The research is all there and there’s a lot of it man.

I call you out sir grant did smoke a pipe once in a while but what caused his throat cancer was him smoking 20 CIGARS A DAY. The 1964 surgeon general report states " pipe smokers live on average three years longer than non smokers." i know this as my great great uncle smoked a pipe everywhere he went he died at age 106. You really shouldn't lie you better try harder next time you attack pipe smoking.
