After delaying for a couple of years I finally get around to assembling this kit for my youngest. I have to admit I didn't have high hopes as these are often a bit lame, but wow, this one is truly excellent. Not only does it function well, but the final robot feels like a decent quality professionally made device!

I built this with my (then) 6 year old Grand Daughter, she cut the parts from the sprues and some of the assembly whilst I did the more fiddley bits, we both really enjoyed the build. Also, I picked it up for £14 from GAME's bargain bin :)

I suppose so. I am wondering when you crank on old gadgets and hear than horrible clicking sound if it is a similar clutch or just the gears stripping!

Can someone help me here? I have a Tobbie the Robot and it's lights and sounds work, but the motors are not functioning. And its flashing and jeeps beeping. I tried it a couple of times and Tobbies motors just wont go and keeps beeping. And sometimes, he makes a dee da dee da noise. Anyone know why?

Your motor's gear is slipping. You need to disassemble the robot back to be able to access the motor and maybe put a piece of paper or tape to keep the motor pressed down when assembling it back. It seems like a common problem.

Can you hear the motors trying to work?

@@backofficeshow yes, it sounds like they’re grinding. I lined up the arrows on the body and the black circular piece too. I made sure the gears were turning before attaching the head as well, twice.

It does sound like something is bound up and stalling it. I would dismantle the leg assembly and test it bit by bit as I reassembled it

Anybody knows what the function of the ceramic capacitors on the terminals of the electro motors is?

From thinking it through: The capacitor will charge up while the motor is getting power. When the power gets cut, the motor will decharge the capacitor. So I would guess, it makes the motor stop less abruptly??
