Spider-Man 1 was what got me into loving comics and Spider-Man especially. It blew my mind when I first saw it, and I was so invested in the world and its characters from the first scene alone. I immediately related to Peter and understood his bullying problem and the inability to talk to the girl he likes, to name a few. I love this trilogy, and I continue to watch them all multiple times a year even after all these years.

Tobey IS Spider-Man. I agree with everything you said. Plus, it's amazing that they show how vulnerable Peter is. I love that Raimi wasn't afraid to allow Peter to show such deep emotions in his performance. He communicated to his audience (me as a child) it's ok to cry, it's ok if you make mistakes because those we look up to, our Super Heroes cry and make mistakes too! Peter was my role model as a kid, and revisiting these movies as an adult, he has taught me even more about responsibility and sacrifice for the greater good. No one will top Tobey's performance - there is just so much heart and realism to it. I believe strength comes from empathy and understanding. That's what makes Peter a hero. He's incredible and I think, as adults looking back... we are all starting to realise how incredible these films are and how we will never see anything like this again - unless Raimi returns to Spider-Man with Tobey. l still pray that they will return to bring the heart back to Spiderman one day.

Great video man! You laid out good reasons for appreciating Tobey's interpretation of Spider-Man. I have mixed feelings about the original trilogy of flicks, if only because it feels like number three weighs them down a bit. However the relationship between Doc Ock and Parker in Spider-Man 2 is one of the greatest in comic book films. All said, Raimi had a visual flair that I can't imagine being used in the current era of comic book movies outside of "siloed" characters like Deadpool.

Thank you for the kind words! I personally don't see the color pallet as strongly in the Spider-Man trilogy as I do in, for example, the original Star Wars trilogy, but it's a good reading of these incredibly colorful films :)

I think Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland are the best Spider-Man actors to date and both capture different parts of the character, Tobey captures the older, more mature Spider-Man in college, while Tom captures the younger, less experienced Spider-Man in high school, basically Tobey represents the Spider-Man from the 60's Amazing Spider-Man Comic Book Era and Tom represents the Spider-Man from the 00's Ultimate Spider-Man Comic Book Era.

Yea absolutely Tobey Maguire's Spiderman is my fav. He played both Spidey n Peter really well. He never shy away to portray different kinds of emotions and expressions. He is awkward, funny and sometimes angry. He brought these emotions so natural on-screen that made the character soo human. I don't hate other versions of Spiderman I enjoy watching them too but Tobey's Spiderman is the one that I felt so connected with and really feel for the character. Not just Spidey all other characters in the trilogy too that's why Sam Raimi's Spiderman trilogy is my fav.

My main problem with the series is Maguire’s Spider-Man. He’s not nearly charismatic enough. He makes less than 10 quips, and they all come off as forced and stilted. I just don’t find him compelling at all.

Max Marriner No it doesn’t. It just kind of ignores it. Your video talks about the criticism of Peter Parker, not the criticism of Spider-Man. He’s an ok Peter Parker, but an awful Spider-Man. Whenever the video does touch on Spider-Man’s criticism, you just kind of laugh it off.

Why the hell does our hero have to quip every 10 seconds like he just came off the page?? This is a human being evolving into the hero we all know and love. That's far more interesting to watch than a perfect superhero with perfect lines right out of the gate. That's why I love the X-Men prequels. They're showing us what our beloved heroes were like before they were awesome. It's all about characters being characters. NOT some toy commercial.

@@epm1012 Spider-Man isn't quipping all the time in the comics, when there's a very serious situation or his loved ones are in danger, he gets serious. A perfect example of this is the bank fight in Spider-Man 2, when he starts fighting Doc Ock he quips, but when Ock puts aunt May in danger, Spidey gets serious. That's how it is in the comics, Spider-Man as a character is a lot more than just a funny dude, and these movies got him right, period.
