I somehow get this feeling Gabaldon didn't know what to do with Black Jack, so she limited his story. I really wish they'd expanded him more on the show and allowed Tobias some more juicy scenes to latch onto. Certainly I feel he was underused on this show. While I know it came from Gabaldon's books, they could have used him more. They have kept Murtagh alive past the books. I feel Jack was Jamie's bete noir. His other and without Jack I think Jamie has lost a bit of his purpose.

Best comment yet that I've read about BJR! Couldn't agree more, unfortunately I believe she did limit him, hopefully not because she wanted to but because she knew she had to in a way, for it to gain any real attention. It's breaking barriers enough that they took the project on as it is. BJR was the most intriguing character though, I want to read the books just to comprehend another level of him. I found the whole Jamie/Claire drama to be intolerable, so I don't think I'd make it far! Haha! Also her relation with Frank was the real tragedy. Can't believe she gave that away for a mid-life crisis f* boy. Or it's a time/war thing for her, and in a way, she's just as attracted to trauma as BJR
